“Great for a Weekend”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

At last we found a perfect place to enjoy a weekend with our family. Although we have been to several places in the starting of this year, but always had some issues regarding services of the staff, location or food, etc. And finally our visit to Imperial City Hotel in November 2012 was what we were looking for. One of our family friends recommended this name, we are very thankful to him. Staff is a real gem of this place; they will really make you feel at home. Food was fresh and properly cooked. They allowed my mom to cook some of our favorite dishes in their kitchen. Really had a nice time.

The hotel was 'what you get for your money' but with a bit more to it.
My friends and I decided to go for this hotel as it has very secure car park and price seemed to be good. It has all the necessities, room was spacious. The staff were very kind.
However, don't expect for anything more than that. It's good place to stay in for good value of money, nothing more.

I'd probably come back again if I visit the city.

The cleanliness of the room was excellent. The management took into account our previously expressed wishes regarding hygiene and anti-allergic bedding. Our room on the 4th floor was spacious and quietly located at the rear of the hotel. Heating and domestic hot water were perfectly adjustable. The hotel has an underground car park with reserved parking spaces. Pleasant breakfast room with veranda and terrace. Tasty and well stocked breakfast buffet, including hot items. Cosy lounge with internet point, newspapers and magazines.
The elevator is a bit small and one has to be patient as it does not always arrive very fast after you call for it. There is no direct indoor access to the car park. The mini bar was not stocked, although with two bottles of water (incl.). No tea or coffee making facilities in the room.

Room Tip: The rooms on the higher floors at the back are very quiet.

The Imperial Hotel looks a bit boring from the outside, but inside you will find a spacious lobby and dining room, where a good breakfast buffet is being served. The owner is a painter, and some of her art work is on display in the hotel, and can be bought. The rooms are equally a bit boring at first sight, but comfortable enough with a writing desk and a fridge. You have to fill it yourself, but this is no problem, as there is a choice of supermarkets and small shops in Nordstrasse just around the corner. Here you will also find two excellent book shops and a variety of restaurants and pubs. If you are still fed up with the area, you can choose between the overground and underground express tram services to bring you to the city centre (Altstadt) which is also close enough to walk to.

I chose this hotel twice already for weekends in Duesseldorf. Main factor for picking this hotel was the low price. There is nothing to complain about this hotel. The staff is friendly and efficient. Rooms are clean and are equipped with neutral furniture, flatscreen TVs and safes. The only minus about the rooms is that they dont have airco. On the first visit I had a single room, which was small but good enough for one person. On the second visit I was in a double room and that was quite spacious. For light sleepers a room facing the back may be the better option since there is some traffic on the road infront of the hotel (on the back however there is a terrace where in good weather guests have breakfast - so there can be some noise as well). The breakfast is good as well. There is a buffett with breadrolls and nice bread, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, scrambled eggs and fruit. Besides regular tea and coffee you can also have espressos, lattes and cappucinos for breakfast. The hotel is located north of the center. To the Koenigsallee shopping area it takes 15 mins on foot. To the old town with its famous nightlife is about the same distance.

Room Tip: The double room "Dresden" is considerably larger than the double room "Rostock".

It is a modern hotel in a very quiet area it appeared as it has been refurbished recently which looked wonderful, I stayed here for two days and was well-served and taken care of. Rooms were fairly large and sparkling clean; bathroom had all modern amenities and was clean too. The location is very convenient which makes it suitable for all types of guests and staff was really nice and pleasant. Minutes walk away is everything one may need train station, bus stop, plenty of restaurants and bars and also Rhine area and Old town. Comparing with the kind of money one has to pay to stay here with all of these facilities put together this hotel offers superior value for money. It will be my first choice always whenever in Dusseldorf.

Stayed there from 8-16 May for DRUPA exhibition. I had Bombay room on the top floor which was nice and quiet. Breakfast was good and the room/bathroom was spotlessly clean. Both my work colleagues and I did not like the pillows - typical German big square pillows with no substance. The rooms could have done with aircon as well.
Overall though, we liked the hotel and it was well located for the Messe. We found a nice Italian restaurant round the corner and ate there most evenings.
