“So friendly, clean and cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014

I used this hotel 2 times now, both times had a great stay. From outside, hotel looks very old, but inside is much better (agree, not very modern, but well maintained).
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was included for me and was great.
Close to airport (2 S bahn stops), but not much to do in neighbourhood of the hotel.
Would go there again for sure.

Excellent price performance. Clean and neet. Nice personnel. Easy to take public transportation to down town and the trade show. Good breakfast while dinner is ok. Good connection to international airport.

We booked this hotel through points as we wanted to explore some German markets. We drove to the hotel (which was very easy to find). We then took the tram that is just near the hotel into the city. This was really easy and a better way to do the markets than trying to find parking. The hotel as some mention is a bit on the dated side but it was clean and the other big draw was the rooftop pool. Though it gets busy it was great for kids. We did not eat at the hotel but it looked decent enough. Check in and out was easy and the staff were very helpful with anything we needed. Paying for internet is always a bit of a drag but that would be a very small complaint. If you are looking for a more affordable option out of the city (with a pool) I don't think you could do better. About 5-7 minute walk down the street is a small grocery store which is nice.

This hotel was really handy for the airport, which is a short drive away. The tram line that runs into the town centre is just outside, but I walked into the city. That took about 45 mins and its a lovely walk past lots of shops. The hotel itself is starting to show its age, and does have an industry standard feel. However, the rooms are clean and tidy, the beds are comfortable and I got a good nights sleep. The reception staff were very friendly and pro-active in providing a good service. I didn't eat in the hotel, but the smell from the breakfast buffet was wonderful.

Returned to this hotel for 3 nights after staying there last year for 3 nights. We kind of knew what to expect (we didn't expect 'modern and flashy') and we weren't disappointed (again). We know the Marriott-Renaissance brand well and even though (as many have said in their reviews) it is by no means a 'modern' hotel (like many other Renaissance hotels are), it is VERY well kept, clean and looked after. Breakfast is good with a decent choice and nice coffee.
Just as we remembered from last year, the reception staff is great!! Very friendly and professional. We were upgraded to the Executive floor (6th) (I am Marriott Gold) and this included free wifi and minibar (some wine in the minibar would have been nice though) together with 50% discount in the restaurant (which we have never tried, too many nice places to go to in town...).
Would like to get a room with a kingsize bed one day (apparently there aren't many in the hotel) but the 2 doubles (comfortable beds) were fine as well. Crisp sheets and very spacious room.
The location has never been a problem for us either. Tram stop behind the corner and tram 701 goes directly to the main shopping area, very handy.
We will return soon !

Room Tip: If fresh air is important to you, ask for a courtyard facing room (the street facing rooms have wind...

I would not stay here again. The rooms are clean, but nothing has been updated since the 1950's. The menu at the hotel is very limited and does not change between lunch and dinner. The staff is very nice and friendly, but that only goes so far. If you are staying one night to get a morning flight, it is not close to the airport or anything else. It was a $25 taxi ride to the downtown area. I try to stay within the Marriott family so I maintain my status however, if I only needed one more night stay to reach Platinum, not even that will would have me going back to this hotel.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else.

My wife, daughter and I are 100% satisfied with this hotel where we stayed for the Christmas markets. We are happy that we were able to stay in this luxurious, well-maintained and well-run hotel at an affordable price. The breakfast was fantastic and cannot be faulted. The staff are efficient and friendly. The service we received, the cleanliness of the room, the comfort of the beds far outweighed the minor distractions of a box TV and slighted dated décor. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will return myself.
