With so many restaurants in the Dusseldorf Altstadt, it can be hard to decide where to go. But over time, you see which places manage to stay consistently busy every day. The Altstadt Restaurant is one of those places. So my wife and I tried it, and became regulars during our time in Germany. We make sure to work it into each of our visits back to Dusseldorf.
They have a large menu, including specials listed on the board by the door, so you will certainly find something you like. My favorite is the rumpsteak with pepper sauce and bratkartoffeln, my wife prefers the hawaii steak with cheese and pineapple. The dishes are always served hot, and the prices are very reasonable compared to others in the area.
We found the service to be consistently friendly, even on busy weekend nights. If the weather is nice, sit outside and enjoy the people-watching while you sip on a nice Riesling or an Altbier.
