“Pork leg is their specialty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014 via mobile

I had to try this restaurant since it is rated so highly here. I came in for a late lunch when there was not so many people so I was able to get a seat easily. The restaurant is small but actually had more seats than some that I had been. The lady that came and took my order was very nice. She knew I did not read German and so presented me an English menu. Now, the reality of the validation of the meal came. I ordered the grilled pork leg, where the. Lady told me that it was their speciality. After a shirt time, the plate came. On my plate was one and a half legs with potatoes. The skin of the grilled leg was crispy, but not too hard to cut and chew. The marination was just right, and the taste was genuine. When I chew on the skin, it reminded me of the Chinese barbecue pork. The meat inside was tender and actually lean. Greasy, yes! But that is to be expected. The meal total cost was very affordable including a tall beer. I concur to this highly rating and a must try should you visit Dusseldorf.

“Pork at it's best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

No trip to Düsseldorf Altstadt is complete without a schweinebrötchen from Schweine Janes. You can tell it is the best by the constant flow of customers in and out of the place.

“If you haven't tried this, then you are not in Germany”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

best schweinehaxe ever! the price is cheap, the service is good and the taste is great! if you just want to try a bit and want cheap food then you can buy the schweinehaxe with the bread, it only cost 3.5 euro. If you want to experience the real deal, try the 1 big schweinehaxe, it only cost 7 euro per portion..

“Schweinehaxe excellent, don't even bother with the menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

Been here a number of times, excellent Schweinehaxe, but don't bother with a schnitzel, or anything else to eat, for that matter. I'd normally drop the rating down a few places for the quality of the other food (not really very good), but this place really centers on one thing, and it does it right. And for god's sake, have an alt while you're there.
