I can only agree with the other reviewers. The location is very close to the centre, it takes maybe a 5-10 minute walk through an agreeable park. And there are always taxi's in front of the hotel.
The rooms and other areas are spacious and clean and look nice. No strange smells, good isolation so no noise from inside/outside the hotel. Personnel is very friendly, but not so well-instructed. We spent a lot of time at the front desk because we had a voucher for a free 15 euro a a day to be spent in the bar or the restaurant, and they obviously had no experience with that. It took us about half an our on check-in before they knew how to put it in the system, and another 15 minutes on check-out again. Plus they gave us all sorts of wrong information about the voucher.
As for food, we ordered the Mediterrean harty snack from roomservice twice, and it was great as a light dinner, very tasty and fresh. We also had a cheeseplateau, but the Schwarzbrot that goes with that is too strong-tasting for the accompanying cheeses, so I would not recommend that. The other dessert, yoghurt with fruit was very nice.
In front of the hotel is a small outside area that is part of the restaurant, and it has the sun until about 4 o'clock, and good, affordable, snacks. and It seems that people from the neighbourhood come here too. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but in a patisserie across the main street street, which looks small from the outside but is spacious inside and is very affordable with a wide choice of nice food, and friendly personnel.
To top things off, the spa was fantastic. Incredibly spacious, and well-furnished with (rain)showers, a heap of crushed ice, a large 60 en 90 degree sauna and steambath and comfortable chairs to lie on. I brought my bikini, but it turned out the be a normal sauna where you can go in nude.
Internet is free, check-out on sunday was at twelve, and we got a Financial Times delivery to our door. Those were nice extra's. Television has Bloomberg, BBC World and other international channels.
My only complaint is that the mattresses are too warm. The duvets were ok, it was really the mattress that got very warm. Also, the room itself gets very warm if you don't put the airco on. Sleeping with the window open was not an option for me because of traffic noises. Parking is 25 euro a day inside their garage.
Some rooms have a shower (a big one), and some have a bathtub.
If i go back to Düsseldorf I would without hesitation go to this hotel again because it is so well-located, well furnished and the food is good.
Some rooms overlook the park and the Dusseldorf skyline, which is nice if you are on a higher floor.
