“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

I've been there twice for business, it's a nice hotel with a modern touch. The rooms were large enough, airy and well kept - the carpets on the florrs are decaying though, hopefully to be replaced soon - it gives the place an unwarranted shabby look.
The taxi booth outside only holds 2 or 3 cabs though - busy morning checkout time empties the lane quickly so once I had to wait for 10 minutes to wait for another one.
A big plus is the Spa - it's still fairly new, it has a nice athmosphere and three saunas - plus its usually not very busy, so perfect for a quiet wind-down after a tough day.
Would definitely come back.

We've been in Düsseldorf 10 times the passed three years and the last 9 times we stayed at this hotel. :)
Need I say more? Yes? Okay: the rooms are nice, breakfast is wonderful, free sauna, it's close to Altstadt, only 7-8 minutes walk to Köningsallee.. ! We'll be back ;)

I agree with all the other reviewers on the great location and nice, spotless decor. The hotel is Spanish owned, which manifests itself mainly in a huge collage of Spanish personalities on one wall of the hotel restaurant and good looking Spanish waiters :-).
We stayed the night from New Year's eve to New Year's day and spent a good deal of the evening in the "Purple bar". It does all the cocktails you would expect, including lots of alcohol-free 'driver cocktails'. Note that it is not a tapas bar: the bar snacks are nachos, caesar salad and hamburger. We thought they would be less calorific than the four-course New Year's eve dinner in the restaurant, but the hamburgers are enormous - about three times the size of a normal one.
Keeping to our new year's resolutions (at least for one day!) we started New Year's day with a visit to the hotel gym and were pleased that the equipment was of good quality and felt brand new.
Breakfast on New Year's day was extended until midday, so we went there for brunch (which made it guilt free) and ate our way through pretty much everything - the hot English breakfast, the German bread rolls and cold meats, the muesli, yoghurt, fruit ... everything was lovely. For fans of jam, the jam bar deserves a special mention, because it has lots of novel varieties - chilli jam, banana jam, strawberry and chocolate jam ...
Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Some rooms have walk-in showers and others bathtubs with showers.

Fantastically located from the airport and town centre. We stayed here in december for 3 nights. Our room was great and had a fantastic view of Dusseldorf (room 1012). This was our first time with a Melia Hotel and this one was clean, well decorated and spacious room coupled with good staff and service.

Room Tip: Top floor room, spacious, confortable, quite and with a view room 1012 highly recommended.

This is such a late review. came for 1 night stay in August 2012, for quick transit and have look of Dusseldorf. Hotel located 3 minutes walk from Nordstrase, and less than 20 Euro for taxi to the airport. Hofgarten next to the hotel, such a nice park. From the hotel, I walked to Alstadt, and also Konigsalle area (shopping) and it was about 2 km. The room were reasonably priced (I was staying when they had promotion on in-house room service credit period), the room service food was excellent, tasty and very well presented. The room was good, and very clean. definetely will stay again.

We came here for 2 nights spending our weekend without kids. Being a fan of the melia brand it was our first visit in this hotel. Room i asked with bathtub instead of shower was given without any problems. Rooms not so large but well decorated and equipped. The only thing i'm missing are the facilities to make coffee. Further nice view over the city and park. Breakfast superb. We'll visit the hotel again !

We booked the Melia two months before our stay and got a great deal on our three night stay. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. We had hot chocolates in the restaurant whilst we waited for our room to be ready (we arrived too early) and they were delicious and reasonably priced. The room was lovely with a great view of the Hofgarten. The bathroom was great and even had a speaker so you could listen to the Tv whilst in there. It was tastefully designed and they provided plenty of towels . It was one of the quietest hotels I have ever stayed in and I never needed my ear plugs. I even managed to sleep in, which is very unusual for me! There is a pillow menu and you can choose the one that best suits you. It then will get delivered to your room. The bed was comfy and large (bigger than a double). My husband used the gym and said it was good. We had drinks twice in the hotel bar and it is decorated ultra modern. My cocktail was very yummy and strong too! The only gripe we had was that on Sunday evening, both the bar and the restaurant were shut. We fancied chilling in the hotel after a long day out and this was not an option :-(. Near to the hotel is the Ubahn (underground) and it is only one stop to the Altstadt (Heinrich Heine Allee). It is a short walk through the Hofgarten park too. There is a Kamps bakery less than five minutes from the hotel and it is ideal for breakfast as it has a seating area too. If you don't fancy braving the busy Altstadt then there are plenty of restaurants within 1-10 minutes of the hotel. We ate at Galleria and a tapas place too. I would definitely return to this hotel if we come to Düss again. The only reason I marked the service down was because everything in the hotel was shut on Sunday evening.
