Like other travellers who posted reviews, i used this as a place to stop over on a long journey. Compared with other Etap Hotels I've stayed in, this place is definitely on the nasty side of grotty. My room was damp, grubby and smelt musty. The carpet was liberally decorated with stains and cigarette burns, various dead and live insects were dotted over the walls and the beds (simple mattresses mounted on wooden boards) completed the overall impression that I was staying in a recently converted juvenile detention centre. Oh, and someone had punched in the front panel of the toilet door. Only the prisoners' graffiti were missing. I also agree with the previous reviewer who complained about the smell of cigarette smoke wafting through a supposedly non-smoking hotel. In truth, this isn't the nicest part of Germany, but I didn't find anywhere to eat in the adjacent 'village' apart from the local pizza take-out - which was, however, surprisingly OK for the price. I found only one English language TV station on offer; CNBC. Hourly updates on bond market leveraging wasn't quite what I had in kind after driving all day. I can't imagine it was any more educational for the inmates who came before me. For 41 e you can't expect much, but this place is definitely over-priced and unpleasant. With Etap being rebranded as 'Ibis Budget', places like this are likely to contaminate the reputation of a very comfortable hotel chain. The management should rethink. Or preferably return such places to the criminal justice system where they belong. I hope someone is listening.
