4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

The hotel is centrally located, it's quiet, only when Borussia Dortmund has a match you can experience a lot of fans discussing and celebrating. The breakfast is very good and the staff is extremely supportive. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Only the bar closes too early.
in summer there is a great outside terrace just in the middle of the park. since Dortmund is a beer town, the wine card could be better.

Room Tip: try to get up as high as possible so you can look over the trees.

This hotel has been here for many years and I have used it regularly. However over the pastmonths it has gone through some renovations namely in the reception area. A smaller everyday restaurant has taken the pace of the former existing bar area and a small lounge has been added in the back to be used by guests. Not a great deal of change but it does improve the reception area quality. This hotel delivers honestly. Breakfast is really excellent and served in a large bright room facing the park beautifull gardens. Plenty of choices and of high standard.Food is of good quality at all meals and with attentive service. The rooms are confortable with good bathrooms with toietries at a minimum, but the beds are too low and difficult to exit, plus bed covers are weird, no sheats just a duvet not really long enough to keep your feet covered. The first night I spent mostly fighing with the whole cover set up until I managed to turn it around completely and thus cover both feet and head! This is a hotel really convenient if you are attending an exhibition at the Westphallenhallen as it really close by, but it is far from the city centre and in the middle of a park, thus you need to spend ttaxi money to go anywere.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in august 2012. There is not much to say because every thing at that hotel was perfect; great location (amidst greenery), 12-13 km from the airport, free private parking area, free WiFi internet access with very good quality, excellent breakfast, clean and well maintained rooms, very good services. We are going to stay at that hotel every time when we go to Dortmund.

Room Tip: Take a room on the south side with view to the gardens.

I have mixed feeling for this hotel depending on the price I pay for the stay, I have probably stayed for 16-20 nights in the past 12 months or so and have been charged anywhere between €80 and €150 per night for exactly the same rooms. For €80 it is a good deal but at €150 it is massively overpriced and you will feel let down if you ever paid this amount (unless you’re here to watch the football and are happy to pay for the convenience of it being opposite the stadium). You also get a very different feeling depending if you are in the older part of the hotel in the tower vs. the nice new rooms in the end of the extension, I understand supply and demand is obviously the cause for this but for the prices to rise so much is just a little cheeky for the quality of the hotel.

Pros
Nice Staff
Good quality food
Ok Breakfast selection (not great)
Clean and well maintained rooms
Comfy Beds
Fee minibar (2 sparkling waters, 2 Orange Juice and 2 Beers)
Close to the stadium (if you are visiting for football)
Good transport links into town via the train which is 5 minutes walk away

Cons
Tower Rooms are more tired with smaller rooms / showers etc
Swimming pool is often occupied with classes and is very small even if you get to have a swim
No Gym although there is a Outdoor swimming pool very close and there is also an outdoor gym in the local area.
Can be horrendously overpriced if you book your room for the wrong time
If there is a conference on the service in the bar is pretty poor
Limited TV channels for the western traveller (unless you like watching 24hr News)

In summary i would recommend the Best Western Parkhotel Westfalenhallen as a nice pleasant place to stay but only if you are here on a sensible priced room, If you are being offered rooms at the higher rate i would look elsewhere.

I have been in BW hotel attending Uhde LDPE conference. Perfect location for the conference and for the Hotel facilities and amenities. The room are nice, wifi is free and the access is perfect. Good breakfast and lunch. Strongly suggested for these kind of events. Easy to access and all around is perfect for a nice walk or run

If attending a concert in Westfalenhallen or a foorball match in Signal Iduna Park, this hotel is a good choice. Walking distance to both and easy access from metro station. Metro (U-bahn) takes about 10 min from the Dortmund main railway station.

Rooms are modern. Bathroom spacious. And I liked that the entry of our room had plenty of space for winter clothes and luggage.

Breakfast buffet was plentiful. Unexpected delight was the possibility of freshly made omelettes. Rarity in hotels nowadays!

And the hotel has a swimming pool! Make sure you try it during your stay!
