“Ibus Dortmund west”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Although the hotel is a little way out of town, it is an ideal base if your in Dortmund for a football match ( a five minute car / taxi trip)
The rooms were spacious and clean, although the beds werent the most comfortable. The staff were very helpfull and answered all our questions.
There is a restaraunt in the hotel, quite a small menu choice but portions were very large and good value for money.

We checked in late in the day or we would have left that day. Instead we left the next morning. The room was dirty. I smelled urine in the bathroom and at closer look found dribbles all down the toilet. The floor had not been washed in the bath and it was sticky. The rug in the rest of the room was dirty. I could not wait to get out of there. We booked a room at another hotel that morning and checked out.

This is quite a big hotel and is located on an industrial estate fairly close to the autobahn. It is not signposted and is shielded by trees so can't be seen from the road making it awkward to find. It took our bus over 45 minutes as once you take a wrong turning the awkward becomes impossible. There are local shops but they are not close by and take about 15 minutes to walk to

Our room(107) was on the ground floor and was a good size and squeaky clean. The beds were comfortable although some in our group complained that they were hard. The air conditioning is not very good and the only way to cool a rather hot room down was to open the window. Some noise can be heard from the autobahn especially with the window open.

They do a buffet style evening meal at 16 euro and those of our group who tried it seemed quite satisfied.. Breakfast is also buffet style with the usual cold meats, cheeses, rolls, yoghurts etc. There was no hot food other than scrambled egg and they were rather slow in replenishing the buffet which led to shortages later on. Mealtimes can be a bit chaotic when the hotel busy with tour groups heading home.

Plenty of parking and the free internet terminal was a real bonus. We only stayed the one night and would happily go back again.

Room Tip: Never mind the room .Look for the big IKEA sign which is visible from the autobahn on the left when...

my only negatove comment is that the standard of food, while expected, was average. This was surpassed by the awefulness of the Friday night buffet that was overpriced and of very low quality like everything had come out of a bag; truely terrible and there was no choice other than to have it!
desk staff were exceptional and very helpful
more or better pillows on the beds would be an improvement

I had stayed at 3 other Ibis around the area but this one is the best. Great and biggest rooms. Big shower and toilet space. The room has a place to put your lagguage and closet with hangers. Hotel surrounded with greenlands and has large parking spaces. Very close to indupark. I did not use the public transportation. If you are travelling to Dortmund or Bochum, do not reserve for another hotel and stay at this Ibis west

During one of my business trip i got my hotel booked at Ibis. I am from India and was blank without any idea about the hotel. Wherein the first entry itself gave me a very good impression. Very nice parking place, a conference hall, restaurant with bar everything was good. The room was neat and comfortable but WiFi is available on cost. I was a bit doubtful due to the language (since i dint know even a bit of German), but the staffs were kind, they understand English and their service was also good.
There were many options for breakfast and i found it interesting. Also the place is very comfortable for outing and shopping. The famous football stadium, Westfallen park and Dortmund city are not so far. Real, ProMarkt, IKEA and Atelco are reachable by walk. At real, some Asian stuffs are also available. Dortmund-Oespel is not so far, wherein you can board a train to reach the city in 10 mins.
At the end of a weeks stay Ibis became one of my favorite hotels there. I enjoyed my stay, though far from home.
