“A beautiful location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Hotel has a 70s concrete architecture which is actually kind of nice - room was not particularly stylish, more like a 2+ star type of quality with average or below average shower and more or less ok bed. Definite minus was the lack of free wi-fi. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with good selection of varieties. Location (Syburg) is very nice but also sort of middle of nowhere - don't expect to find too many alternatives where to eat or drink. But this would be a nice place to do some hiking or other outdoor activities over a weekend. Overall, quality price ratio was very good, i.e. price was very attractive although the quality left some room for improvement.

We chose this place because of its proximity to the Ruhr cycle path and the quiet surroundings. We were given a smoking room without even as much as a comment from the reception staff. We kept it due to the nice balcony and the first floor location (it was very hot and hotel has no A/C). Reception was unable to produce a map showing the exact location of the hotel and how to navigate out, which was really unhelpful since it was 10 km into town. Breakfast was substandard, the only "service" being the room number enquiry. The restaurant is way overpriced, we (and several other guests) ate at the excellent Sunshine directly opposite.
We noticed a sign warning about theft in the underground garage and sure enough, next morning other cycling guests had had various accessories stolen from their bikes. Now what is the point of 24h reception if you do not monitor your own garage?
Room furnishings were in part quite tatty.
Do not recommend! Management non-existent.

We spend two nights in this hotel. This hotel is located in a pretty quiet neighborhood. There is golf club and many parks nearby. So if you enjoy silent and relaxing weekend, this might be your choice.

This hotel looks definitely personal from the outside. It fits really well on the surrounding buildings. This hotel is fairly small and pretty old (also the furniture inside).

The staff on the front desk is really nice, we were treated really warmly. And the prices were not that bad.

Rooms were a bit small and old, but they served the purpose. My bed was not the most comfortable.

Convenient, if even in business trips you prefer quite places. On the other hand it´s located close to the Casino, a nice park and with several restaurants and pubs around. You will not feel in the middle of nowhere.Rooms are small and furniture, TV etc, belongs to several decades ago. Breakfast and restaurant are good.
