“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

I liked everything about the apartments, staff, pool, comfiness of the beds, cafe, position to the markets and Cathedral even free use of the computer in the foyer (including being able to print out as checked in our return flight), I cannot rate it highly enough as great value and so much more room than in a normal hotel, if you are going to Cologne I would highly recommend that you have a look at these apartments.

We stayed at the Residenz Am Dom apartments again from 5 to 9 December and
again had a most comfortable and good stay. Staff were very friendly and the apartments were clean and equipped with everything you could need. We will certainly be staying again in December 2013.

Room Tip: Both times I have stayed in the same block only different floors and both were excellent so I cannot...

Residenz am dom located only 2 minutes walk to hauptbahnhof (central station) it makes me easier to go around while in Cologne. The service was excellent, the receptionist, the waitress, even the cleaning service very friendly! They still remember me when i came back to visit and stay in Residenz am Dom.

The apartment is huge, big room, living room, kitchen and bathroom. i can cooked my self, they provided also the microwave, fridge, water heater. I don't have to be worried if i needed something, there are minimarkt in front of the apartment or you can simply walk to the central station

free wifi and fast connection

i will stay in Residenz again on next September and i would recommend Residenz am Dom for your consider if you visit Cologne

Terrible, terrible staff - terrible attitude, didnt care, moody, unhelpful, unwilling to provide a service. This alone would make me avoid the place like the plague in future.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

We booked a comfort room for 4 nights through bookings.com. Reception staff were welcoming and accommodating - one of the bulbs had gone in our room and we needed extra pillows - both of these issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently.

We did not eat at the premises, but did buy some water from the small on-site shop, which proved to be very expensive. You are probably better off going to the City Kiosk over the road.

The room was extremely spacious, quiet and comfortable. We have stayed previously at a City Class hotel and we got much better value for money here than at the hotel.

The apartment is very clean, beds can be a bit annoying as they are on castors and seem to move around a bit! Although they are comfortable.

The bathroom was huge, and allowed for disabled access.

The TV had only one English speaking channel - perhaps this is something that could be improved but really only a very minor point.

The Residences are well located within a few minutes walk of the Station and the Dom and the rest of Cologne is within easy reach.

The fact that part of it is an old peoples home is really not an issue. Certainly there are people walking around with zimmer frames etc but you only see them in the common parts, once you are tucked away in your apartment its like being in any apart hotel.

The kitchen had a small oven and fridge/freezer with a saucepan, frying pan and cutlery, plates etc for 2 people only.

We intend to come back to Cologn and would definitely consider staying here again!

My daughter and I stayed at the Residenz am Dom from 7 to 11 December and were really pleased with the accommodation. It was large, very clean, quiet and had everything you would want ( a microwave would be a good addition). We found the staff very friendly and helpful and the whole reception area was decorated with trees and decorations and made it very festive. It was good to be able to come and go as you wished and it was so near to the Dom and markets. We were very impressed and will certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor and found this very quiet.

We stayed for three nights and were impressed with the location and hotel room, although not luxury it's very comfortable and clean and the staff are helpful. I saw some reviews regarding breakfast we did not use this facility instead opted to by our own breakfast the day before from the supermarket and spend the time relaxing in the morning they have enough facilities in the room ( toaster, kettle, plates, and hob) that you can cook your own!

We spent 30 euros getting a cab from the airport only to realise that the train station is a 2 min walkl from the hotel and only costs 2.50 euros! You simply walk straight out of the station and walk to the right hand side if the buildings in front walk straight up and once you see donor and more( on the opposite side iof the street) you will see the hotel opposite this is really is only 2 mins!! The hotel was very central 3 mins from the cathedral and main shopping area, there is also a tram stop close by. I would suggest you don't go to framers restaurant it's not great but in the main square (opposite Starbucks) you have a bar where you can sit upstairs or down and have a quick bite I would suggest the sausage meals!!!! The potatoes are to die for !! Downstairs by the way is smoking!

The only down side to the apartment is the usual two bed syndrome where you have to fight over who is going to sleep in the crack! I personally hate this set u and would prefer a double bed but thats all! Place is quiet and for smokers the rooms have balconies!
