“Sweet Deal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

We were looking for a room that would suit 3 adults and fell on this hotel. Just steps away from the center, it was a sweet deal! The room was spacious and comfortable enough with an en suite to another cozy bedroom for one person. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good considering that we only paid 5 euros.
We would definitely return if we were to return to Cologne!

Stayed here on a Friday night. The location was brilliant, near the river, the cathedral, restaurants and bars. The room was a bit dated, but clean and decently sized. When I got back to the hotel at 2am, there was a bit of noise outside, but even though my room was on the street, it was quiet inside and I had no problem falling asleep.

We booked 2 rooms for one night last week. We arrived at 10.30 in the morning and were given the keys to both rooms which was a pleasant start to the stay. The reception staff were friendly and professional. The breakfast at 5 euros (think that's what it was) is a bargain.
The rooms were a reasonable size for a European hotel, there were very clean and functional, and the bathrooms were spotless, even if the towel rail did fall off the wall in one of the rooms!
The hotel is in a great location and despite its central location the rooms are quiet. Definitely recommended.

Very close to central station, exhibition halls and old city. Three factors important when you visit Köln for this working event. Besides that the hotel also is located just in the middle but no noise outside from cars or peoples. The hotel itself is not a luxuray one but clean rooms who are in high gloss melamine decors but quite large and comfortable. Breakfast is also good with fresh bread and fruits. It's not a hotel you go to for a romantic weekend in Köln but on businesstrip it's perfect.

We visited Cologne for a weekend to attend the Christmas Markets. The hotel is centrally located to many museums, the Dom Cathedral and most of the Christmas Markets. The main train station is only a short walk from the hotel.

The room we were given faced the front and included a small balcony with a view of the Dom. There are bars located undernear some of the rooms so if you are a light sleeper I suggest asking for a room that does not face the street (Who knew Germans loved to sing so much?).

The breakfast was fantastic! It is only 5 EURO extra and totally worth it - A wide variety of breads, cakes, cereals, yougurt, cold meats and many hot food options.

The staff are a mixed bag - the staff in the breakfast room were lovely and I only have good things to say about Frank at reception - everyone else was a little cold.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and it makes a great base for exploring cologne.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the street if you are a light sleeper.

We recently did an overnight trip to cologne to see the Christmas markets, and found this very nice and well-located hotel through Booking.com at the last minute. Our room was small and not especially "charming", but perfectly adequate, with a very nice modern bathroom. We were on the back side of the building, so it was very quiet. Although very close to the cathedral (on the side opposite the train station), the hotel is toward the end of a street that dead ends at the Rhine. The location is great for all the main activities, including sightseeing, shopping, boat trips on the river, and of course the Christmas markets. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding, with a wide assortment of hot and cold items:eggs, sausage, cold meats and cheeses, lovely breads, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, etc.-- and even including several varieties of smoked fish (my favorite). The room rate was reasonable for the value received; though the breakfast was extra (5 Euro per person I believe) it was well-worthwhile paying the extra. We'd definitely go back here if were again in Cologne

I chose this hotel based on its close location to the station and the cathedral for our 1 night stay. As we walked from the station it was ideal, less than 10 minutes. The hotel is located quite close to the river and there are plenty of restaurants and take away food options near by. Walking to the cathedral and to see most of the major attractions was easy. The main shopping streets are within walking distance too. Our room was more than adequate, comfortable and very clean. Wifi was not free, and we found that it would not work in our room so were not charged for it. As our stay was a Saturday night we found the room to be quite noisy with lots of late night revellers, so found sleeping a little difficult - pack some ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Frank - at reception was very helpful. We did not have breakfast here as we had an early morning train to catch.
