“Is a very romantic spot, just lack free wi-fi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Is a nice hotel with and outstanding view of the forest. The rooms are spacy, very clean sheets and also a good bath with bath suppliers and a hair-blower. A good flat screen and what striked my attention was the fact that even at a couple bed it had two separed blankets. The breakfast is very good and the restaurant with bar have a view of the lake. Just what lacks is free wifi for a 4 star hotel. Another point who travels relying on public transportation is the fact the closest train station the walking distance is of long 500 m in which you can either cross the forest (parc) or from the street. Always bring a map since is confusing to see the location. And also walls could be a little more sound-proof, since the hotel once full you can listen to your neighbour.

Room Tip: Choose from upper floors the ones with the lake view, is quiter and they have a stunning view of the...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights last week because the seminar he was attending was held there.

The hotel was in a good location with a tram and bus stop about 200 meters away. You can easily get into the city center for sightseeing and shopping. There is a direct tram (#7) to the Neumarkt shopping area, which takes about 10-15 minutes. About 500m to 1k from the hotel, there is a cute little shopping strip and some restaurants.

The hotel décor is nice and modern. The rooms and public areas were well maintained and clean. Rooms were a little small, but normal by German standards. There is a beautiful, small lake on the backside of the hotel that has a nice jogging trail around it.

I can understand some of the complaints about the front desk staff. I wouldn't say they were rude, but I also didn't find them friendly or welcoming. They can make one hesitant to ask them for help (e.g. how to get somewhere by tram). I don't think it's a cultural thing as Cologne is one of the friendliest cities in Germany that I have visited.

The Bad: WiFi is unnecessarily expensive (somewhere around 15-20 Euros per day). Breakfast is also quite steep at something like 18 Euros. The bed was ridiculously hard. I woke up in the middle night with back pain. Ultimately, it's about personal preference, but I have stayed in many, many hotels around the world and have never had a bed that hard before.

All in all, for a good price, I would stay there again, but only for a max of two nights due to the bed problem.

Stayed here before when it was a Holiday Inn. Now totally refurbished and has a very smart appearance. Rooms are of a high standard. Worth paying extra for the lake view, preferably from the top floor of the hotel. Meals in the hotel are a little pricey and the club sandwich was not toasted properly. Breakfast is of the highest quality but at 18Eu it is too expensive. Much better value to book it with the room reservation at a big discount. If you have the time enjoy a walk in the beautiful park at the hotel

Room Tip: Have a lake view

The location of the hotel and its surroundings are fantastic. The room over looking the lake is the best even though priced higher as a premium value. The room size was good and the view was breath taking. The staff are very arrogant and be careful if you forget your stuff. For sure it is gone.

Room Tip: Take a room facing the lake

Really great stay at the Leonardo. The hotel is situated in a quiet location on the outskirts of Cologne.
At about 300 meters from the hotel you can take the metro into the city center in about 15 minutes. With only one change to reach the fair in 10 minutes
The hotel is located on the edge of a beautiful park and the rooms are really quiet. The cleanliness is excellent.
The breakfast is great and good quality sweet and savory. The staff was very kindly.
When I go back to Cologne for business will keep it always in view.

Room Tip: The rooms on the lake side have a lovely view
