“Top Quality All the Way.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2009

We stayed at the Radisson Koln for a weekend in the middle of August and I've got to say that the hotel is absolutely fabulous. The building itself is modern and looks superb both internally and externally and the decor is immaculate and modern. Our room on the 6th Floor had a great view of the city and the bed, tv, bathroom etc was great. Breakfast the following morning was also good and had plenty of choice as well as a nice smile from the hostess !! The tram stop is about 50M over the road and the Number 3 or 4 tram takes you straight to Neumarkt which is the central shopping and tourist area of Koln. All in all a very, very good Radisson hotel and one that I would most definitely recommend and stay in again myself.

We got this hotel for an extremely good price, since there were no conventions going on. There was free parking available right on the street in front of the hotel. It was easy to get to the downtown core. The tram was within walking distance, which made getting around very easy. The hotel was modern, clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff were very accommodating. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, but expensive. The bar made socializing nice and private; staff was attentive and provided snacks with the drinks. Rooms were great!

Great Hotel in business area. I have stayed here twice in the past few years.(both on stag trips) We didn't want to stay in the usual stag places because we are in our mid thirties.

It is a very well designed hotel with modern decor and immaculate rooms. The bathrooms have rain showers and I must agree with a previous reviewer that its impossible to have a shower without soaking the floor. (not the end of the world). It also strangle has underfloor heating in the bathroom which isn't great in the summer!!

The drinks and food are a touch expensive but the hotel looks the part and you can get great deals at weekends because it is primarily a business hotel. I would suggest it is perfect for a romantic getaway or group of lads who can afford €90 for a twin room. The location is not that central but for that price for a 5 star hotel room, just use it as a base and get cabs into town (€10 a go)

Staff were courteous and spoke perfect english. they explained what was happening in the hotel during the weekend and gave us perfect directions to the beer festival we were going to.

A great city and a lovely hotel. (free wifi although if you have an iphone it does not work in the room)

My only criticism would be that the air con was not brilliant so it was quite warm when humid outside.

Beautiful rooms--very comfortable, quiet, and elegant. Restaurant meal was pricey (to be expected) but again, excellent; our waitress couldn't have been nicer. Front desk staff, though, was marginal--you could tell they didn't want to be useful, just wanted to be left alone. Also of all the German hotels I emailed before our trip asking for information, this one didn't bother to respond until AFTER we'd been in the hotel a full day. (And I never would've gotten the msg if I hadn't logged into our home email acct). They knew we were coming and when, but made no note to provide us w/the info we requested when we arrived.

That said, if you are coming on business, or at least need no special help arranging activities, this hotel is perfect. Beautiful, quiet, nice bar in the lobby, good food. Easy walk over a nice bridge into the city.

We stayed here a the end of a 6 day trip around Europe, it was so refreshing to walk into a hotel that actualy kept its promises. From the secure on site carpark to the welcoming spacious air conditioned room with tea making facilities, the lovely clean spacious bathroom to the comfortable bed and fantastic breakfast. I really enjoyed staying here, it was a truly relaxing experience. The centre of Cologne is a mere tram ride away....I highly recommend it.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2009

We are a gay couple that stayed at SAS Radisson in Cologne from March 6 to 8, 2009.

The SAS Radisson is an awesome hotel. Already when you enter the foyer you got your breath taken by the fantastic design in whose center there is the hotel bar, hidden (or not) behind a semitransparent curtain.

Staff is well-educated, quick and friendly.

But the best about the hotel is the rooms. B - I - G rooms with a fantastic interior design, great lights all over, a lot of space to put your clothes and stuff, a big flat screen TV, and a design bathroom with a great rectangular washbasin, a resonable big bathtub as well as a great shower at the ceiling, great lights again and speakerphones where you can listen to sound of the TV program.

For breakfast they offer you a huge variety of different food. Yummy!

However there were some rather negative things as well:

The first day we got woken up by the cleaning people at 10 am, although having the „Do not disturb“ sign at the door. 10 minutes later, a phone call by the cleaning people followed, asking (politely) if and when we wanted to have our room cleaned. This was not very professional and so we complained at the front desk where they agreed this was a mistake, apologized and said they wanted to go after what had happened.

At the hotel restaurant (Paparazzi) there is as good as no vegetarian dish on the menu and it is extremely expensive.

The location is a wee bit away from the city (old town) on the other side of River Rhine. However you can take the tramway just outside the hotel, the S-Bahn 5 mins away, or you can walk which takes you no longer than 15 minutes when walking slowly. The people in other reviews who said it takes longer probably must have followed the tramway which is a much longer way.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years for the Rhein Golf Show in February. . It is a very busy Hotel, but the first thing that strikes you as you come in the door is the friendliness of the staff, after a long trip this is one of the most reassuring things about the place. I use it primarily because of its proximity to the Messe, but since its only a shot taxi ride ( always plenty of them outside the door ) to the center of town I would use it for any stay in the city. The rooms are like any other you would expect in a big hotel, but they are spotless and come with all the usual extras, but one of the best things for me was the shower, and these can be hit and miss in any hotel, this one has a big 12 inch rose head imbedded flush into the ceiling. . If I had one gripe its that I am not used to sleeping in a single bed, I thought them a bit narrow. Take a business class room and get free media and wi fi access, its worth the little extra. Also a court yard view is best, also the quietest. The breakfast buffet is very good and again all the staff are friendly and helpful . Can not fault this hotel .
