“good price great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

this hotel has a great location just of the motorway easy to find. the service is great and done with a smile. The breakfast is the best I have had for many a year. Its close to the trams to get ito the centre of the city but far enough away to be very quiet at night

Room Tip: check the temparature of the pool before jumping in

nice enough hotel, the staff are very polite, friendly and very helpful. good transport links into the city center about 20-30 mins from the hotel to the center. Food in the restaurant was very nice and would recommend if you were staying there.

The hotel is quite good but for me it looks like a good 3-stars hotel than a 4-stars one. The minus is an Internet connection, especially WiFi. It is not free, it is expensive, per device. And it is NOT STABLE even for so called Premium access which promises you hi-speed and very stable internet connection. Do not trust this. To be honest, you can connect up to 2 concurrent devices at a time, but sometimes it is not easy to change one by another, if you have more than 2 (for example, I had a phone, a tablet and a laptop).
Breakfast is good, but fruits were not fresh, check them before eating.

Twelve of us stayed in this hotel and found it to be very clean and tidy and relatively modern. The shower was powerful and always hot no matter what time of day and the air conditioning system was simple and effective. The price that we paid for four nights was very reasonable and included breakfast which was very good, and had plenty of coffee, a wide range of continental breakfast items and a decent selection of hot stuff including sausages, crispy bacon and scrambled eggs. The staff working at the hotel were all extremely helpful and polite, the receptionist was very helpful and actually booked all of our excursions for us (to help with the language barrier), the breakfast and restaurant staff never stopped running around keeping things tidy and topped up, the guys on the bar were great and always made sure we were kept topped up with the superb local Kolsch beer. The location of the hotel wasn't bad approx. 15 euros in a taxi into the centre of town or the cheaper option is to get the train (ten minute walk to station) which took us right into the centre for a day pass costing approx. 3 euros. Pool and sauna were great. The only down side would be the price of the WIFI, would be better if it was included in the room price, but to be fair we knew the WIFI price before booking it would have just completed the package really. Overall a great four night experience for us and we all said we would stay again in the future.

Good value and good location for metro access to the centre, very nice breakfast too. Rooms were quiet and very dark with good curtains. Would stay again once the confusing road works outside get sorted!

Reading the wide range of ratings on Tripadvisor (after booking!) made us a bit apprehensive. But we were pleasantly surprised. All the staff were very helpful and friendly, our front-facing rooms on the 3rd floor were clean and well presented, the motorway noise being largely curable by closing the window and the basement swimming pool was well kept and quiet. There was a very good choice of breakfast items and everything on the menu was kept topped up so the range was available even to those who arrived later. The dinner menu was pricey and limited, though the two dishes we had were very good. The negatives were firstly the lack of alternative dining options in the immediate are; the grill mentioned in another review is a German-style takeaway with an area to stand and eat if you want to eat on the premises. Otherwise the Koeln Arcaden shopping centre a 15-20 minute walk away has a choice of restaurants, though closes at 20.00. A city bus tour stop is also near this, providing a convenient way to access such a tour. Due to roadworks on the hotel's street and partial closure of the adjoining motorway junction the only access is via the Zoobruecke motorway from the east, and leaving the hotel, as well as re-accessing it from any other direction is more difficult (30 minutes going in circles and an illegal approach via the closed side of the street!), but can be done with a bit of pre-planning. If we visit Cologne in the future we would seriously consider the hotel again, especially as the roadworks should be finished by then.

Room Tip: The third floor front-facing rooms looked relatively recently refurbished and are a good size.

The hotel was very clean and well maintained and front desk staff were always polite and accommodating. We did have trouble with wireless in the bedroom, however the front desk attempted to fix the issue and when they were unable to resolve it they provided s with a full refund. Had I been on business it would have been very inconvenient, but as it was a pleasure trip I wasn't that bothered. The location is not central but is relatively close to the train station which will take you directly in town in about ten minutes. Overall a nice stay.
