This hotel had the best location in cologne! It was no lie, about 500ft away from the Dom (Cathedral)! And to walk up the Dom, it was 3 euro per person, all 570 steps NOT TO BE MISSED! The rooms were not bad, just like 1970 's remake. The beds were pushed together, so if you are in a twin bed, it looks like you had a king bed with two mattress. And they just separated them for twins. There is a minibar and refrigerated in the rooms. The cokes and the water were complimentary, but the beer and wine were not. The minibar was refilled once a day. The hotel was in walking distance to all kinds of restaurants and the shopping district. The hotel has their own garage, it is literally behind the hotel and it is only one lot for about 7 cars. There was a bar on the second floor of the hotel, the drinks were good. I became addicted to the Hugo drinks, but the bar was extremely over priced. I went to dinner to BRAUEREI ZUR MALZMOHLE, it was great, incredible German food and vibe. In the hotel rooms, some had bath tubes and others had showers, but they both required a step up. So, be careful it was easy to slip. The location of the hotel was in walking distance of the river (Rhein), and should not be missed. Walk down the Deutzer Brucke (bridge) then walk down the opposing water front then cross Hohenzollern bruicke (huge bridge) back to the hotel. It's a beautful veiw of the Dom. They had a cold continental breakfast followed by a hot a la chart breakfast. All included in room price. The cold continental consisted of meats( turkey, ham), cheeses, and breads. And the hot a la chart had eggs and sausage. They offered coffee and tea (Earl grey). Also, the hotel used two elevators that took you to all the floors, these elevators were OLD! they required a key to be inserted to be used and there is an outside door you open to get into them (kind of like a closet). The elevators were small and could only hold three people, one with luggage. There are steps. The rooms used metal keys, and not plastic cards. My room did have a tv, but no English speaking channels.
