“That is great hotel, with amazing breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

I was on a business trip for 5 days. This hotel is excellent! I didn't hear that music what was mentioned by others. The pillow was too small for me. The breakfast was really amazing, you cannot wish better! Congratulations!

A friend & I stayed at the Flandrischer Hof not knowing what to expect but... we were pleasantly surprised. Our 2 night stay at this hotel was thoroughly enjoyable. All of the staff were very friendly & couldn't have been more helpful. My friend & I always had a little chuckle with the reception staff when we tried to greet them in Germany & the maids did such a thorough job I had to leave them a tip when we checked out. Our room was (VERY) clean. The bathroom (in our room 732) was squeeky clean. We had two arm chairs & a sofa, which gave the room the feel of a suite. I stayed in a twin room. It had a desk & all the electrics & electronic equipment worked perfectly. The hotel was located in a fairly central location, I think, as it seemed that we were never far from the main attractions of Cologne. The public transport system is efficient, cheap & right around the corner of the Hotel. There are a ton of different Bars & Restaurants around to suit all tastes. I am unable to comment on the Hotel's breakfast (which I actually paid for) because I wasn't able to get up in time for it but the friend I was with said it was more then adequate. Would I recommend this hotel to others? Is there salt in the sea? - Of course!!

Stayed for 2 nights. Our first impression was not good as the reception staff were quite rude, when we asked about wi if, told it cost 5 euros then did not explain how to purchase this. We also enquired about a city map and one was thumped down on the desk for us, when I further asked direction this was met with a loud hurmpff. Our room was at the back on the 5 th floor. Firstly we had to navigate two flights of decent stairs to get to the lifts, then once on the 5 th floor, then more steps up and down. As we have been travelling for 5 weeks our bags were heavy and carrying up them up major staircases was not fun. At no point were we offered assistance nor an explanation as to the many stairs. Breakfast was OK but the breakast room was set out more like a cafeteria style, and again stairs and corridors to get to it. From our room it was quite a journey to the breakfast room. The room itself was clean and spacious, bathroom good. On leaving we asked if a taxi could be called for us, once more the reception staff treated us with disdain, however the another guest who quite clearly was a business person was treated exceptionally and they were very polite and helpful to him. The overall impression we have is that they cater well for business people and conferences, however if you are a tourist visiting Cologne they must figure they will not see you again so it does not matter how they treat you! We would not stay in this hotel again.

I stayed here for six nights during Photokina week. I must say the Hotel has a really bad problem with external noise. Outside the hotel fronts onto three sides – two of them being streets (the other the back triangle of the hotel). The one outside the main entrance is more quite than the other which features a Karaoke bar next door until 2-3 am depending on the day of the week.

Day One I asked to move at 12 midnight only to be put into a sub-standard room on the 8th floor that suffered from water pipe noise in the roof. Day Two I got moved again to the quieter street only to suffer again; once Friday comes around the Cologne youth comes out to party in the surrounding streets.

I also agree with those other guests who commented on the poor Wi-Fi. Five Euros a day for a flickering service was a joke. When stronger routers are so cheap these days it’s just sloppy management that allows this to happen.

Also, one morning the whole block I stayed in had no hot water. I got no explanation as to why it happened but cold morning showers I put down developing countries, not Germany.
Plus points for the hotel include a good breakfast (9 euros extra) and clean rooms but don’t consider staying here without ear plugs or before retiring having consumed serious amounts of alcohol to anesthetize the racket.

We stayed in this hotel during exhibition time as prices in Cologne double during exhibition opening days. Normall we stay at the Maritim but as a cost saving excercise we selected the Flandriscer Hoff.
What a great family run hotel. We had a large room that included a sofa, 2 armchairs and a table more like a suite really. Everything was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The breakfast was continental but had evrything you would expect. Small bar in the lobby at reasonable prices. There is a lift to all rooms. Situated in the Belgium district it is a 3 stop ride on a tram into the Old Town and Rhine water front taking about 7 minutes also the tram takes you directly to the Messe, Exhibition Centre.
We will definately stay here again saving around £130 per night over the Maritim and other similar hotels. This is a very modern hotel and excellent value for a city centre hotel and I would say 4 star not 3 star as indicated.

We stayed 7 nights at this hotel and enjoyed our stay at this 3 star hotel. The hotel is extremely clean which is always a priority. We found the reception staff helpful and polite on arrival we were allocated a room with 3 single beds and asked it to be changed preferring a double and a single for our 11 year old son this was no trouble and we were allocated a room on the 8th floor. As previously mentioned to get to this floor there are some stairs but there is a lift for the majority of the distance. We were on the quieter side of the hotel which was handy with a youngish child although we were there whilst the Games Com festival was on right outside the hotel and leading into Rudolfplatz so it was particularly noisy in the vicinity but to be fair there was a concert on for 3 nights which was a bonus!
Wi Fi is a problem we gave up, in my opinion it should not be chargeable , if its free and you can't get it its one of those things but if you are offering it a chargeable service then it should be available.
Breakfast was great good quality varied food .
We loved the Gummi bears left on our pillows on a daily basis it was a particularly nice touch that my sons cuddily monkey also got a packet!
Location is great we would definately stay here again.

Top tips for Cologne watch out for the cyclists they are everywhere!, Ride the trams they are easy to work out and cheap. Do the obvious tourists attractions, I also recommend you make time to do go to El De Haus/ National Socialism Documentation Museum (Gestapo prison), if its hot as it was for us Stationbad is a great outdoor swimming pool complex and if you don't mind going out of town Phantasialand is very good fun

Just had 4 nights at this hotel and it is more like a four star than a three. Breakfast was great and the staff very helpful. We went for my wifes birthday and the cleaners saw her cards and wished her happy birthday which i thought was great. The only problem we had was that where our room was above a bar and it was quite noisy at night as we had to keep the windows open because it was red hot but other than that a great stay and would definatley stay there again. 15 minute walk to the Cathedral which was highlighted on a map by the receptionist. All in all a great stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the front of the hotel not as noisy as the back
