“Good value hotel with nice bedrooms and bathrooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2011

This hotel is lacking in atmosphere but it is fine as a good value hotel, about 15 minutes walk from the city centre, and right by a train station. It is on a main road as well so some visitors have mentioned high noise levels, but I didn't notice any excessive noise when I was there. Bed very comfortable, bathroom excellent. Towels a bit old feeling. Breakfast was good but lack of atmosphere again I'm afraid.

All in all I would definitely return as it's much better than the NH Hotel Media Park that I've used the last few times I've been to Cologne.

Staff were quite helpful but very abrupt. Hotel is located adjacent to the train station with approx 20 lines making for quite a noisy stay. Rooms were clean and spacious with plenty of space for cases, a free safe and reasonably priced mini bar. Bathroom with enormous (too big really as it only had a shower, toilet & sink and no bath!) which made it feel very cold. Our room was dark with little natural light due to overlooking a courtyard and very heavy curtains. It was a good 10-15 minute walk to The Dom where you could make yor way around or there is a metro directly opposite and of course the train station next door. Breakfast made the stay all worthwhile it was lovely with a great selection and very attentive staff. We were however issued with tokens for our breakfast but were never asked for them - I think anyone could have walked in off the street and helped themselves without being questioned!!

The hotel is about 10 -15 mins walk from the centre of the city and only 18mins by train from Cologne Airport.

Rooms are bright and spacious and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The rate we received from Octopus Hotels was considerably cheaper than the others quoted.

This place was an absolute pleasure. We know very little German and they were very accommodating. The hotel room was very clean, spacious and very comfortable. We weren't in the room much, but if you will be the TV is on the small size and there are few english options. It was only a 15-20 minute walk to Dom Cathedral, the Rhein, and the main downtown centers. We are here for the Christmas markets, which are a must see, for the arts, crafts, food, and overall atmosphere!

Room Tip: Not familiar enough with the entire hotel. There is not dramatic view anywhere close so any room sho...

Second time in this hotel and again it was perfect stay. I really recommend. Rooms are big, clean, quiet and modern. Breakfast was just excellent despite the fact that the hotel was full. Staff is nice and very helpfull. Totaly recommend!

The rooms in this hotel are quite nice and very large but a hotel room which is impossible to sleep in is useless. My room was right on the railway lines (at least 10) which is the main line in and out of Koln. Trains went past all night but worst of all was the morning when from 6am there were often 4 trains going past at the same time. The windows were not insulated enough and it felt like I was trying to sleep ON the tracks.
The reception was manned by only one girl and I had to wait quite a long time just to get the code for the internet ( which needs a cable in the rooms.)
Would not stay here again

We have used this hotel a couple of times during stop overs in Cologne. The Azimut is a 10 minute walk from the centre.

We have never been anything other than impressed with the Azimut, great service, food and value with large well appointed rooms.

Also has a multi-story carpark attached which was handy for us.
