“Surprisingly Good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

I wasn't sure what to expect really but I can say that it was a nice sized clean room, proper coat hangers, television that worked along with a nice hot shower and bathroom. The bedding was clean and the bed comfortable. Staff were pleasant throughout the stay. Breakfast was standard European and it was very good with plenty of choice to suit just about everyone. This hotel is in a fantastic location in the town and close to the train station and other offerings. Shops and places of interest are well within walking distance. Only thing was there were no tea making facilities, which you expect in UK hotels, in the room but it wasn't a miss really and to be honest probably better for not being there.

Room Tip: Make sure the windows are closed at night as it can be quite noisy.

A good, basic hotel which is surprisingly quiet given that it is right next to the train station. I had a rear-facing room on the sixth floor that was bright and airy and immaculately clean. Delicious breakfast buffet. I was surprised I had to pay for wifi, but this seems to be standard for the area. Schwerin is a lovely town and the main attractions are easily within walking distance.

This hotel is located close to the main station as this is the motto of all Intercity Hotels in Germany. The staff at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The parking is very easy to access and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance as the city is not very big. The rooms were ok, clean and also good to work in, but not too big. Going on a business trip by yourself, the hotel is just fine. The breakfast was ok, too. Everything you need was right there.

I had already spent a night in another InterCity Hotel in Erfurt a few months ago. My stay in Schwerin was very short, one night, I arrived by train and there isn't much choice of hotels in town.
The InterCity Hotel is a mere 50 metres from the train station, which is more than convenient. "downtown" - in this case meaning old town - Schwerin is only just another few minutes walk away.
The rooms are surprisingly spacious and okay, especially in case you have Government rates an pay a mere Euro 60 per night.
The breakfast is fully fledged and regular good.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the market square in front of the building.

A barrack near the main station must be practical for a business traveler but it has something of a clinic and not a top one .Small room with a window facing a wall which was white ( to look at the + side) .Minibar but no air-co.Walls are not really sound proof. The restaurant on the small side and the choice of food is very limited even at breakfast .The receptionist was friendly but nobody smiled in the restaurant .The best : the inclined plane protected my back after many stairs everywhere. It seems that in Germany one must book in at least a 5 stars hotel to get human help!

I had a nice, modern, bright, spacious room. However, the hotel has no airconditioning, and my room had no ventilation to speak of either. As a result, I got little sleep during the one night I stayed there. Because of that, I didn't really enjoy the room, which is a pity, because it was a really nice room.

Upgraded to a 'Business' room which was a small room with a cramped shower. WiFi access was not included (in a 'Business' room, remember) and the charge for that was €5.00 per 30 minutes. In my part of the world we call that being mugged. The breakfast was dull and lacked variety and service trays and juice containers stayed empty for too long. The scrambled eggs had the consistency of dental plaster moulds and the coffee was pants (but where is it not?). No AC (temperatures were 32º+) and no fans in the rooms. Staff swayed between dis- and un-interested. - except for the young woman who served at the bar who was friendly and efficient (who is why the service gets three rather than two 'ticks').
