OK the hotel is not brand new, actually 12 years old but it is in fantastic condition. Unique design in keeping with the surrounding area gives it very friendly 'kerb' appeal and on closer inspection there are some great details. For example, outside the front door is a statue of a gentleman enjoying a drink in an area which is delightfully block paved. There is garaging for your car at the rear of the hotel separated from the main building by gardens.
The rooms are large with mine having a double bed and a big sofa, small table and a large bathroom with good quality fittings.
The village location means light traffic and yet you can be in Oldenburg in 10 minutes.
I ate in one night with some customers and suppliers and the food was first class. The Restaurant is the bar area but it is so well done that it feels vary comfortable witha relaxed ambience. The food is exceptional. When I was there the Asparagus had just come into season and the Chef had responded magnificently by producing a number of dishes to celebrate the occasion.
I went for the Madagascar Steak which was one of the very best I have tasted on my travels, certainly top 5, a quality cut and superbly cooked.
Run by the same family for over 250 years and they care about their guests.
