“Good hotel, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

This hotel is not in the centre of Hannover but it is easily reachable in a few minutes by car.
There is ample pay parking, also covered.
The covered car park is just a floor below a part of the open air parking, so there is no lift to the lobby.
The car park is shared with the adjacent Ibis hotel.

My room was decent size, quiet, air conditioned.
Air conditioning worked well even if the outside temperature was extraordinary high.

This hotel has the general ambiance and feel of 3+ stars, that is the general quality and level of service is about 3 stars but there are all the 4 star amenities.
Tripadvisor should allow the half stars: I am a bit embarrassed assigning 4 stars as with many higher class hotels, but I also cannot give 3 stars only, especially considering the difficulty of finding a good hotel in Hannover.

I originally had reserved another (more expensive and central) hotel, but I left since the advertised air conditioning was missing.
I also went to a second higher class hotel, but the available rooms were very odd and without proper black out curtains.
So you can understand that the qualities of this Mercure must not be undervalued.

I was happy to have finally found a normal, clean and quiet hotel room with electronic safe, 26" flat TV, minibar etc.
The minibar had drinks and some snacks.
There was a kettle.
The TV had really lots of international channels (including the Italian rai1/2/3/news).
There was a armchair with ottoman, a large desk with its chair.
There was a large luggage stand and open space for hangers but no closed wardrobe.
The lighting was good.
The door did not have peephole nor safety latch.
I had a queen bed and it was comfortable, without unnecessary decorations.

The bathroom had a good sink with space for one's things, a tub with shower and glass screen.
The shower head was on the small side and the general condition of the tub/shower was not shining new.

The room service menu was sufficiently varied, service was quick and food good.

Breakfast in the restaurant was good enough:
Yoghurt: there was no packaged yoghurt (only bowls)
Fruits: there was pineapple and watermelon sliced in small pieces
Pastries: a couple of pastries and croissants

Internet was not free, I had some problems activating the service but did not insist, since I could use my MiFi.

To conclude:
- I am giving this hotel 4 tripadvisor stars in consideration of the great value
- Its qualities are higher than other more expensive hotels in Hannover that should be higher class
- Just don't expect a top 4 star international class hotel, which the Mercure is not expected to be and is not

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013 via mobile

I am here at least once a month so my views may bea littled biased, but having said that I spend most of my working life in hotels and I take the reviews seriously. What isn't there to like? The staff are professional and friendly as I seem to experience in most German hotels and the rooms are clean and of a generous size. What sets this one apart, however is the standard and quality of the food. The breakfast is buffet style and I personally feel that the average business traveler would be spoiled for chice. In the evenings the breakfast area is given over to an evening meal menu that would be in price and quality comparable to a lot of restaurant's in the town. I normally have something from the "specials board" and have yet to be disappointed. So at the time of writing I am sitting in the bar with a cold Weissbier and as I said it is like a home away from home

Excellent breakfast. Very clean rooms. Walking distance from the Hannover medical center and medical school, with a convenient tram to the city center.
The complimentary wireless service did not work well

I have used this hotel on multiple occasions as it is very convenient for work.
The reception staff are always very friendly and the hotel is always clean and well presented. There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel, although the signal strength can sometimes vary.
There is an outdoor, unheated swimming pool (depth approx 1.3m) and an indoor sauna.
Also a bar (with food menu) and restaurant onsite. Slightly limited menu but reasonably priced for a hotel.
Rooms have heating/cooling controls and also windows that open (a lot of hotels I stay in the windows cannot be opened). Basic toiletries provided (Shampoo and shower gel). Rooms have bath and shower attachment in the bath.
Tram stop approximately 10 minute walk away (behind the medical school) and a 20min or so ride into town.
Prices for rooms can vary quite a lot.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front of the hotel can sometimes be noisy due to people standing outside smoking, s...

Location is quiet and outside Hannover city center, but easy to access by car if you are travelling on Autobahn 7. This is very good hotel to stay for one or two nights. Clean rooms, helpful staff, good breakfast. Nothing too special or fancy, but very much worth the price we paid.

I was in town for the Hannover Fair so perhaps the prices were inflated. Hotel offered a nice clean room, decent breakfast and good location. I did not use the bar but it looked popular. The staff was pleasant and professional. Rooms are air conditioned.

Room Tip: Upper floor to avoid street noise

Hotel is located 30-35 min from the central rail station (15min train + 15 min walking). Usual hotel-chain quality of the rooms and service.
Pluses: quiet rooms, nice breakfast.
Minuses: Internet is not free (around 10EUR per day per device so if you have a stack of i-devices plan to spend a fortune), evening meals could be much better for the price.
