I can imagine what it might be like to be a bird, this trip took us right up in the air with stunning views of the Rhein and the surrounding grape growing area known as Rudesheim.
From E$6.50 to E$11.00 round trip the money was well spent. I was not looking forward to struggling up the hills with my more than fit companions - all who are used to running up mountains and over hillsides, so although this is the lazy and easy way it affords views of the surrounding countryside.
If you really want to be uber prepared, take a packed lunch and the Seilbahn (Gondola) to the top of the mountain and find a nice quiet spot in the countryside at the top to drink in the views.
Somewhat safe for all, just watch children travel with you and make sure your hats are on securely - try not to look over the side if your sunglasses dont fit properly as you may lose them over the side.
Parking is handy and close to the village where the Seilbahn goes from - I think this is a good introduction to the Rhein.
