“Interesting collection with focus on railways and cars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

The museum has quite an extensive collection, including a model railway (HO gauge) loosely modelled on this part of the Rhine valley. One train circulates when you enter the room housing the railway. There are a number of static displays ranging from old sheet metal clockwork trains to more modern electric trains, as well as a number of model cars of varying ages. There are a few dolls, toy shops, etc.

“Boats and trains a delight for grown ups morethan children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

We found out about this on-line on the Ruedesheim tourist webpage. You have to ring a bell to get in. We liked the working model railway, and the large collection of trains, boats and cars, many of them, as you would expect, German toys. I should say it is a collection for adults to admire, rather than children.

“rudesheim museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

We found the place by accident, no sign posts. however when we went in, the museum
was a clutter of old toys, upstairs were lots of tin plate toys worth a fortune. the models
were mostly on shelves or in glass cases, We were most interested in the trains and old
german war ships from the early 1900 .The model train set was working, it started up as
we entered the room, along with the lights. the models are very old and in fairly good
condition, with the history of some of them written down adjacent. If you are interested
in tin plate toys you will not find a better place to visit.

“Mostly trains and layout was not working”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Most of the displays are in glass cases with little information. The railway lay out had no trains running and did not look very inspiring. Might suit someone who is very keen on old model trains but for most people would not be worth the entrance fee.

“Not Worth a Visit”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

The Toy Museum in Ruddesheim is not sign posted and we realised why when we finally found it as it is not worth paying the 5 Euros each to get in. It is in an office type building, has no atmosphere. It is advertised as having a large train layout, however, we could not get the trains to move around the tracks.
