“Very nice weekend hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2012

Hotel is not far from Frankfurt 15 min by car. Very well mantained, great buffet breakfast. Very calm during night. Great wellnes and spa center. Special treat is outside heated pool.
Rooms are good in size but furniture needs some improvment. All in all very nice place to spend a weekend in beautiful place for resonable money.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

Arrived at the airport and went outside to the phone column and called for pickup. A short wait as promised and the driver was extremely nice. About a 15 minute ride. Our room was large, clean and had great large windows that looked out on a park like setting and was very quiet. Great nights sleep. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The lobby area was awesome with many different sitting areas and a really large wood burning fireplace. Across from the fireplace and behind the bar, down a few steps, is a really nice glassed in sitting area looking out on a lake
The main restaurant was very expensive for dinner and not at all what I would have expected. The food was unexceptional and the portions were extremely small. The breakfast buffet was well presented and quite good.
I thought the fact that you had to pay for WIFI @ 6 Euro for an hour and 25 Euro for the day to be excessive and not very customer friendly.
Getting back to Frankfurt for sightseeing can be done by public transport but it involves buses and trains. We opted to take the taxi which was out front of Kempinski. The driver wanted to know what we were going to do in town and we advised we were going to take the tour bus. He tried to talk us into letting HIM take us on a tour for 100 Euro, twice what the tour bus was. When I declined he tried to talk us into letting him take us to the airport the next day…can we say FREE SHUTTLE. When we went past the Christmas Market I asked if that wasn’t where we were supposed to turn and he finally turned a couple streets down. When we went back with a different taxi from the same place the cost was about 5 Euro less which is no reflection on the hotel, just letting the next person know.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

I stayed here for the 1 evening during the recent CPHi Fair. It was a flying visit, but one which not doubt many other business travellers experience when in Frankfurt. So, my brief summing up of this lovely hotel is this:

(a) The food is excellent, although terrible for the waistline
(b) My room was lovely. Huge, opulent, although perhaps a little dated. I quite liked it that way (c) I agree with the previous reviewer (who I think I may have met in the restaurant!) the driver was great. Very attentive with excellent English and so smartly presented, I felt very special being the only one to be picked up from the airport.

The bar staff were a little slow, but I guess that is to be expected with the volume of people it had to serve. Still, when it arrived, my G&T left me stirred, not shaken.

Overall, a very nice hotel, one which I'd happily come back to on my next visit to Frankfurt.

Room Tip: Book early and not during a trade fair. The rates shoot up!

A colleague and I stayed here for 2 nights last week when we attended the CPhI Exhibition at Messe Frankfurt. Everything was fine, including the food, although unfortunately I was not able to check out all the hotel facilities due to pressure of time. The staff were exceptional; I have nothing but praise for them, and special mention should be made of the driver who brought us from and to the airport, who mixed just the right blend of friendliness and politeness with entertaining and informative conversation. I have just one criticism of our stay, which is that neither of our rooms actually had a bed! Call me picky, but when I stay in a hotel a bed is a fairly high priority........seriously, I assume that because the hotel was full of business visitors, the management decided to increase the number of individual rooms available by adapting the suites, and thus we were both in sitting rooms with sofa beds. I hasten to add that they were very comfortable and I slept very well, but it did seem a little surreal, a bit like camping out in a posh friend's house, rather than staying in a 5 star hotel. I would have appreciated prior notice of the room arrangements so that we could decide before travel whether this was acceptable. Once you've already arrived, and in the knowledge that finding an alternative place to stay would be difficult, is a bit too late to find out. However, overall an excellent hotel, and "the 5 star sofa bed" experience would not prevent me from staying there again, neither would it make me hesitate to recommend the hotel to friends and business colleagues.

Terrible! They tried to convince me I was in a non-smoking room but the room smelt heavily of cigarettes - even on the bedclothes.

Spa, Swimming pool - all closed with no sign.

Food - not good, bar service terrible. Waited 45 minutes to be served & then has to complain and ask her to clear the table from the previous users.

Room fine except for the smell and bad service from the staff. I would not go again

This is my second stay here. Once again disappointed. Old, dark and musty would be my description of the rooms. The hotel is nestled in a beautiful forested area. Breakfast was good. The rooms and the bathrooms need to be updated. Hotel receptionist must have been over whelmed by the large group as he certainly needed to be less aggressive. No English channels on television other than BBC and CNN.
