“Really not more than average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

Ok, the hotel has the few superficial indicators of a recently refurbished holiday inn like new logo, nice lobby. But apart from the ery friendly and helpful front desk staff, there is room and restaurant interior from the 80s ( by the looks of it), damaged shower, insufficient lift capacity during peak times, no shoe or vanity kit in the room, expensive parking and: it really is in the middle of nowhere. Not good for seeing the city. And - also from stoneage (or shall I say desperate for profit hotels): you have to pay for wireless, per smartphone/tablet you want to use.

Simply average

I recently had the opportunity to stay in this hotel on two occasions in the same week. I would say the first room was better than the second one. As most have already said its not in the city it's about 15-30 minute walk. It's not near the airport, about 33-50 euro cab ride. You can not access the hotel via train or local subway. You must take a cab or the bus period! Even if your saving a few euros instead of staying in the city center its just not worth in the long run you will have to pay to take a cab or the time on a bus every time you want to go somewhere if your not a walking fan.

NOTE: This hotel is used frequently by tour groups and sometimes when the buses drive in you can be overloaded with people above the normal volume.

The elevators are not capable of handling more than 4-6 people at a time, if a tour comes in you can wait several minutes to get to your room.

The staff does its best with the short comings of this hotel. The hotel is way past its prime but acceptable to European standards. I have been traveling to Europe for several years now and I really do not see the same importance that Americans put in their hotel rooms. These rooms are basic and still have 13 inch tube tv's with basic cable tv. The bedding is basic (a duvet with two very soft pillows) and sometimes the beds will leave you with a lasting impression as the second room did during my visit in the week.

If you want something closer to what you see in the US then book American based mid to high level chains, don't be fooled by the Holiday Inn logo here ( they do license it to franchise owners).

Foot note: I stayed here due to my company having its annual meeting here, otherwise I would not have reserved a room at this hotel. It is not business friendly as they try to charge you a very high fee for internet per device!!! Not even the loyalty program gets free wireless. If Frankfurt is booked and you can't find a room in other locations then this will do for one night, otherwise book somewhere else..

Room Tip: The rooms are a lottery, you never know what you will get. Some beds might leave you with a night to...

I stayed one night and the staff were friendly and helpful. Nice and quiet sleep. The buffet breakfast for 18 euro had an excellent selection and with the weekend late finishing time of 1130 it meant it could be breakfast and lunch in one. They gave me a late checkout of 1pm with no charge. However, internet was 14 euro for 24 hours, but was very reliable and fast. No free bottled water or minibar but friendly quick room service. A strange bed set up with one single duvet cover - that was a new one for me! Taxi was 26 euro from the airport. Lots of hotels in Frankfurt have a free shuttle service - even the other Holiday Inn properties do but not this one - you need to add this cost when comparing prices.

Location is not bad but not ideal: the metro into town is a good 15 min walk (up hill on the way back), however the bus is pretty handy and right outside the door. A taxi to the Alte Oper (for example) is 15 euros and they come right away.

Service is friendly but the wifi is extortionate. Two good bars.

Go for room 720 if you're visiting in good weather. It has the most unbelievable balcony and will transform your experience.

All rooms had good and easy-to-use temperature control (something which I find essential and surprisingly rare!).

Good functional / reliable place where you know what you're getting.

For a night should be ok but those with family should bring a travel kettle as the hotel do not provide free bottle water, coffee maker and wifi.I won,t be staying in this hotel if I come for my next trip as wifi access is very important to travellers nowaday.

Friendly staff, along with a nice fitness center, bar & restaurant (I recommend the house hamburger.)
The top rooms have a great view of the Frankfurt Skyline which you can see from the balcony and are quite big and well equipped .
I do recommend, and will come again next time I am in town.
