This hotel is a bright and newly renovated set of old buildings in an excellent location. Simply walk out the main entrance of Frankfurt main Hbf straight ahead on Kaiserstrade for two blocks and on the right hand corner of Elberstade is Victoria Hotel. We selected this hotel based on price and location and will not make that mistake again.
Our room, #314 is represented on the Fire floor plan as larger than most but it was small. The bathroom was very small and would be a real challenge for large people.
First the “no’s”…no tea & coffee, no luggage rack or space for luggage, no hotel directory, no telephone details, no room service, no shower cap, no body wash towel, and limited TV channels…With today’s access to satellite broadcast at very low prices we had expected more than only one channel, CNN News, in English. There is only one lift..it was out of order on 2 of the days we stayed. Room servicing was poor, glasses not washed, toilet paper not replaced. The air-conditioning system had a temperature control that took us a day or so the figure out that it was ineffective…We resorted to opening the window and turning it off to reduce the temperature. This gave us the added advantage of eliminating the randomly periodic crash and rattle of the fan. We decided not to report the noise as there were too many other issues. After turning it off at night we were able to sleep well for the balance of our stay.
The best news is that they recommended a great eating place, Baseler Eck, at Baseler Platz 7 about a 15 minute walk. It has good local style food at reasonable prices and real atmosphere.
Ask for a large room on the lower floors.
