“Beautiful Historic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Located centrally, this grande dame is a delight to stay and dine at . The historic charm is matched by great service and great food. Try the white asparagus at oscars or enjoy a coffee in the portico area. A must visit.

What a pretty average place! Definitely not worth the money ... We arrived at 1430 for a 1400 check in and our room wasn't ready, told it would be an hour.. They did keep their word on that it was ready in the hour.. The Room is ok, but lacking the basics you would expect from a 5* such as a kettle and tea/coffee facilities, conditioner, - FYI it is €8.5o to have some milk sent up, is extreme... The temperature control in room didn't work, the room was stifling hot and had to open the door to cool it down and haven't been game to turn it back on ... The light to the wardrobe was broken and wouldn't switch off .. Which is annoying when trying to sleep, however they did send someone to fix the light but now we can't use the wardrobe as it just switches back on... The staff are a hit and miss, some were delightful whilst others were just unhelpful and rude!!! The bath doesn't fill up - it just drains out..

The hotel is ideally located near many points of interest downtown if visiting.

Inside the building looks great, well maintained. Old style without being cold. The ambiance is quite relaxing even if downtown.

The customers are varied and it is refreshing.

The bar and the restaurant are definately worth trying. The bars' cocktails are really great. And the food is top class too. Fresh, simple yet delicious.

The rooms are great. Dark enough to relax the mind, yet not depressing. Inside the rooms too the charm of old style and modern comfort are in good harmony.

However the greatest quality of this hotel is the staff. Always smiling, caring, anticipating. How a real hotel staff should be.

We were pleased that the shortcomings we experienced previously (mainly in the housekeeping department) have been eliminated and our three-day stay confirmed that this elegant hotel now fully deserves its reputation. The recently-renovated Super Deluxe rooms are state-of-the-art luxury – e.g. separate shower and bath, both with electronic temperature controls – the latter incorporating a flat-screen TV with a (presumably!) waterproof remote control. (Watching television in the bath was a first for us!) The lighting system is superb - a sensor automatically turns on the light in the walk-in wardrobe, and there are reading-lights over the bed. There are comfortable chairs and a chaise-longue, plus another large-screen TV, king-size bed, mini-bar, a kettle and Nespresso coffee-maker.

Staff throughout the hotel are exemplary – courteous, efficient and helpful – and they speak excellent English, for those who need it! Breakfast is a highlight of your stay - don’t even think about skipping it. The traditional German spread is supplemented by a range of Middle Eastern and Oriental options, reflecting the international clientele which this hotel attracts nowadays. In the evening, the bar is a cosy and hospitable place to relax, and on warm days there is spacious outside seating, well insulated from the Kaiserplatz traffic.

Of all the up-market accommodation options in Frankfurt, this hotel is surely the most elegant, charming and hospitable.

Room Tip: The Super Deluxe rooms are worth the supplement

Having stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions, I can highly recommend it. Many rooms have been renovated to a high standard. Staff extremely helpful. Fantastic location and good value vs the competition.

Room Tip: Ask the reception - have been very helpful in changing rooms. Definitely avoid 208

I had the privilege of staying at the Frankfurter Hof for one night. If there is one word which can summarize my experience it would be “Wow”. To me this is the equivalent of what flying first class would be like. If I had known it was going to be this great then I would have planned to stay another night or two.
There are many things which I appreciate about this place. But on the top of my list is the "humanness" of the staff.
Firstly I was expecting what could be termed as an Asians perspective of a German welcome: Slightly aloof to the point of being unfriendly; robotic service and poor English. However from the bell boy onward it was warm genuine smiles all the way and much to my relief everyone spoke excellent English. Even the service staff.
What really touched me was the fact that even though the official check in time was two o clock they released the room around 12 when we arrived. Not many hotels do that and one has to appreciate this kind gesture. It was the same at checkout as they granted an extra hour to leave.
The room was beautiful, comfortable and luxurious. The toiletries were all Aigner and joy of joys they had a bidet in the loo which is a rare luxury for Asians in Europe. What was also great was that the television channels offered had a great mix of English, German and even Thai and Arabic channels. This showed that the management of the hotel was intent on catering to a global clientele. Even though there were some posts here complaining about the free WiFi being slow I did not have any issues at all. But I only accessed the WiFi via my phone.
In fact the room was so lovely I just wanted to stay in and luxuriate in the room instead of going out to the city. Fortunately the hotel is located slap bang in the middle of Frankfurt within walking distance of great shopping, restaurants and the attractions of the old city. Which means you can do your outings and get back to your room quite fast.
One little tip if you are planning on staying here. Make sure you enjoy their breakfast buffet.Sadly the staff don’t do a good job of selling it and at 35 Euros per person it comes across as a little expensive initially. But it is worth every penny or Euro in this case :) It is an international buffet with a wide variety of delicious food including Asian and Middle Eastern dishes. The coffee is great and the service excellent. If you are the type (like me) that enjoy a great breakfast spread out over a couple of hours then this is heaven.
However there is one tiny fly in the ointment. As you enter the room there are two bottles of water prominently displayed with a sign saying “for your enjoyment 7.50 Euro each”. Some how to me this is like throwing water on a person who has been blissfully enjoying a dream.... because up to this point it is quite literally a dream experience. Yes you can drink water off the tap in Frankfurt. But hotels should give some water complimentary to their guests and the question I put to the management of the hotel is “when you are selling a room at 200 Euros do you really need to charge 7.50 for a bottle of water?”. I don’t think so. Even if you have to do so keep it in the mini bar instead of making it the first thing you see as you walk into your room. It is just not nice. I would have also loved to have the ability to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room sadly this facility was not available. It would have been nice.
Nevertheless this is a great hotel! Ideal for an international traveler with an excellent team of professionals serving you. I can’t wait to come back.

Dear Chrishantha-cj

Thank you very much for your detailed and rave review! This is greatly appreciated and the team is thrilled to know that you have had a good time. As you specifically mention the breakfast, it is something that we are equally proud of and thank you also for acknowledging the international selection we offer. Your comment on our mineral water offer is noted.

It would be great to see you return soon and until then I remain.
