“Five Star Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

We stayed at the Steigenberger for 4 days in October 2012. What made our stay so wonderful was undoubtedly the courteousness and friendliness of key Team members. The Concierge, Mr. Mueller, was so helpful and knowledgeable. He recommended several activities we found to be so delightful and ones which we would not have found on our own. The Head Bar Tender in the Autorenbar was a consumate service professional and mixed some of the best martinis we have had and he maintained a very well kept bar area with every attention to detail attended to. The location of the hotel was perfect for us as we explored the city on foot our first day and then took trains from the Main Train Station out into the surronding countryside two other days. The only area which I could fault this hotel would be in the area of the HVAC. We had very little control on the climate in our room. Although it was not unbearable, it got quite stuffy in our room over night, despite having the AC turned on the lowest setting and the fan on the highest setting, still, I would highly recommend this hotel to any traveler, including those with children as there were youngsters in the dining room most mornings for breakfast and the staff treated them to a warm welcome. I would definately return to the Steigenberger if I came back to the Frankfurt area!

Stayed here for four days in September. The staff was excellent, courteous and so helpful; they went out of their way to ensure that we were well taken care of at all times. The room was lovely, spacious and spotless. We would recommend this hotel to all. The location was very handy for our meetings and also for a leisure stroll in the Old Town area.

I do enjoy this hotel however the latest visit felt tired. The lift is scratched and deteriorating. The room looked tired and the bath towels are certainly past their used by date. There is no hair conditioner only shampoo and the drinking water in the room is 5 euro each. No cheaper alternative or freebie like most hotels so drink out of the tap if you need a sip of water. We had clients for breakfast and thy charged us for the full breakfast rather than the cheaper the continental one. Difficult to argue and they should have asked first The check in staff are idle "is this your first visit" if he had bothered to look he would have seen the multiple times I have stayed and i even have their loyalty card. Service here is slipping and so is the general state of the hotel. Villa Kennedy is better but the location of this hotel is good.

This hotel is a very beautiful old building and set to be a luxurious hotel. Unfortunately many things just don't match a five star hotel-
On my first night I complained, that the water in the shower didn't get hot. I then needed to leave and when I came back the water was hot. The next day the same problem occurred. I find this unacceptable for such a hotel!!!
Breakfast looks nice, but the melons were hard and tasteless and the fruit salad stood a long time and was soggy. For a good coffe I went across the street, where there are 3 large coffee shops to choose from... On the whole- the hotel looks royal but is unfortunately nothing more than average. If you love a hot shower- don't choose this hotel!

I still really like this hotel, even though I agree with some of the negatives that other reviewers have mentioned. For me, you have to understand and embrace what you are getting when you stay here. If you are looking for ultra-modern minimalist chic you have taken a wrong turn. The Frankfurter Hof is very old-fashioned, and generally all the better for being so. The location is great, the service is fantastic, and the whole place has a certain unique charm to it.

I've been fortunate enough to stay here on many occasions, and I don't think I have ever had a similar room twice. Some are cavernous, with ante-rooms, others are more compact. All are luxuriously furnished. I don't get why some rooms still have CRT televisions though I must admit. The food is excellent too.

Things that could do with some work: breakfast is absurdly expensive, and the last time I stayed here there was no hot water in the morning (July 2012)! I'm sure that last point is an aberration though!

I never hesitate to come back here.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful! We stayed in a junior suite and it was very nice, large, and well decorated.

The staff were very helpful.

It is close to many restaurants and shops. There are various local shops right by there too (not tourist shops).
