“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Nice, clean and reasonably priced hotel on top location. Even has own parking space that is not very expensive. For the price, excellent choice of cheeses and breads for breakfast.
Frankfurt Messe is 5-10 mins of walk, U-Bahn is 3 mins away.

Not a bad little hotel. Clean, tidy, welcoming. My main issue was with the bathroom where having a shower involved having to literally climb into, and out of a deep bath to wave a waist high shower attachment around. Such a shame otherwise I would have happily gone back, as it is it will be the NH Messe round the corner on my next visit. Great value, good breakfast, poor bathroom facilities. Oh and the location is nice and quiet and very handy for the centre.

This is a budget business hotel, meaning one catering to business folks visiting Messe but who - like me - cannot afford a more expensive hotel like the nearby Marriott. Its key advantage is location, literally an 8 minute walk away from the Messe in Frankfurt. It is one of the closest hotels to the Messe so if proximity matters it's not a bad choice. But other than this it's very average, nothing to write home about.

Room was reasonably big but not cozy, with external window blinds instead of curtains, makes you feel like you're in some bunker once you closed them. Comfortable bed though. Bathroom ok but no fitting for a shower handle while taking a shower, I had to keep it in my hand. Breakfast was ok, reasonable selection. There is a parking (paid extra). No restaurant as far as I could tell.

Normally I would have given it 3 out of 5 but I deduced 1 point for internet. Hotel advertises having free wifi. And indeed, there is one. But it's so slow that it's impossible to open any website, even google, it just times out. And there's no other network available, not even a paid one. Because I was on business trip I had to send something in the evening and ended up having to go to a starbucks near Hauptbahnhof. For a hotel that caters to business folks coming to Messe this is unacceptable.

First impressions always stick, so when the reception cannot get it right and appear rude to you - you know it's going to be bad!

He couldn't give me another key to the room as they were huge key types, in 2012 that's pretty lame given that I was sharing a room with a colleague. Also the Internet would only connect 1 device at a time so I needed to get some pathetic piece of paper per device - very annoying!

The room was small, with an old style tv. The bed was fairly comfortable and shower had a powerful shower head which was good. I wouldn't stay here again though, the breakfast room was so small also!

This hotel is in need for an facelift but still very charming. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you're visiting the fair it's perfect. Nice breakfast. It has everything you need. Don't forget that price goes up the double during excibits at the fair. If you're are crazy about football then It's close to the sportsbar "champion" at mariott hotel.

The location is absolutely brilliant if you want to visit the Messe (Fair).

From the main train station (Hauptbanhof), it's two tram stops on the no 16 or 17 to Hohenstraufenstrasse--a 50 mtr walk then brings you to the hotel. Or, if you don't have heavy luggage, take the U4 underground 1 stop to Festhalle, and a 20 mtr walk later, down Rheinstrasse, you are in the Astoria. To get to the fair, simply walk right through the U Bahn underground station to the opposite side, and you come out right inside the fair grounds-very useful on a cold winter day-if you intend to go only to the fair and back, it saves you the bother of carrying warm clothing.

The room I got was the smallest ever-barely 15 sqr mtrs, including the bathroom-at 190 Euro during the fair days, it was high, particularly since the hotel is just a borderline 3 star hotel.

Breakfast, included in the tarriff, was adequate, though not lavish, Free internet was available in the conference room, or in the room via a password. The TV was small, and there was a large work table, but no safe, and a hair dryer was available on request. Parking was available behind the hotel, and there seemed to be some arrangement with the gym next door for those who were interested. There are half a dozen restaurants within walking distance on Rheinstrasse, Beethovenstrasse and Westendplatzstrasse, and a 20 minute ride on the UBahn or tram will take you to Brockenheim or Zeil where there are more shopping and dining options.

All in all, adequate and very convenient, if not luxurious.
