“Brilliant choice if you want something basic & convenient!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012

When you pay for Central location under 50 Euros - please dont expect luxury.
- supurb location: about 30 seconds from the Southern exit of the Frankfurt Main Train Station so no need for taxi if you carry a bit of luggage - just cross the road and you are there
- heaps of shops around
- bus station is right there as well

- I did not pre-book but just walked in around 10 am
- cost me 45 Euros for a single room
- very charming and friendly Reception guy - smile & you might as well get a good rate ;)
- early check-in after 10am at no charge - CONVENIENT!

- Room: spacious enough for two or more with a single bed and a couch
- it got table and a mini-bar with the GOOD GERMAN BEER x2, orange juice x2, and some water - all included into the room rate - BRILLIANT! just what you need at 10am
- clean bathroom with a bath tub
- no view but you dont really need it anyway
- the Hotel is not new (incl. rooms) but its good enough to serve those who would like to stay central & cheap - its not rusty, no insects so I find it decent

- Housekeeping guy (a big Indian man) walked in without knocking. Gave me a bit of a fright)) But i take everything with a bit of humor so not an issue

- Free internet at the computer behind the lobby - The Reception Charming man even brought me a coffee with biscuits while i was at the computer - might be the flirt but I took it as the Level of Hospitality =)

- Breakfast was good. Enough choice for everyone but vegetarians) that'd be me.

Would come back!

a trip back to 50'ties, the room I got had 3 beds was quite large, lightning was poor and some black mushrooms could be found in the bathrooms. Breakfast was very good, and the price is cheap for a city like Frankfurt. Hotel is very close to the Main Station. A good pizzeria called L'Osteria is about 8 min walk away from the Hotel.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Hotel Monopol in Frankfurt. It had a faded, old world charm that was appealing. It was very close to the main train station which was convenient as we were continuing our journey by train. We found the rooms to be large, comfortable and clean with full sized bathrooms and a free minibar. The hotel provided complimentary coffee, tea and beverages with cakes in the lobby in the afternoon as well as an extensive variety of choices for breakfast. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful.

Where to start! I went with my sister for a weekend break to Frankfurt. Firstly, when booking the room on booking.com the entire amount was taken out of my account which I did not like!!! When we arrived the guy behind the Front Desk didn't have our booking at all which was irritating. The rooms were creepy, the Hotel was creepy, I felt like I was in a horror film, my sister agreed. There was a step up to the Bathroom which nearly killed us a few times as we nearly went flying on the tiles!!! The rooms were so hot at night as there was no a/c so I kept on waking up. The Staff at Breakfast were lovely, the guy behind the Reception Desk looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but there. The price for the room was extortionate, I looked at the reviews on this site and thought we would be staying in a luxurious Hotel. The only plus is it's location was good and the breakfast was really good in the morning. I would suggest that this Hotel seriously updates everything about itself and put the Staff that were on the Breakfast Rota on Friday and Saturday morning just gone at the Front Desk, they were lovely and friendly and get rid of that weirdo you have at the Front Desk. I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone.

This hotel is very close to Frankfurt main station. Staff was very helpful. The rooms were large and the complimentary bar fridge was a pleasant surprise. The bed is very comfortable and bathroom was spacious with a bathtub. Free internet was available from the rooms. The buffet breakfast was great, but could be better if there could be a little variations every other day.
Expensive car parking and slow internet.

I always stayed at the Excelsor Hotel next door (same management or maybe owner?) and for a chance I stay at Monopol and was expecting a real 4 stars hotel (Excelsor is 3 stars hotel and quite good)

Instead we found out the 3 rooms we booked is old and "dark" the breakfast is not as good as Excelsor in variaties although the free mini bar is the same and free wifi also

Overal is OK hotel but I prefered Excelsior

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are not having a view but you might want to get room facing the main station

Good hotel which offers very good value. I was pleased by the quality of the breakfast and the cleanliness of it's rooms

I originally planned on staying at an airport hotel as I was in between flights. However, the inexpensive and fast S-Hahn train from the airport to the Hauptbanhof made me realize that this hotel was a more attractive and less expensive choice. Door to door from the airport to the hotel it was 25 minutes
