“Good but not great for the money spent...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

Well...we booked their deluxe room in the newly renovated portion of the hotel. Ultra-Lux bathroom with separate shower and toilet closet. Very well located to the Festhalle and the Financial District, Botanical Garden and a local neighborhood park great for running.

Restaurants nearby also very good, although we didn't use the suggestion from the Front Desk clerk because she really didn't sell it or had never really been there to eat.

Pluses: Mini Bar was included with the price of the room, as were soft embroidered slippers and a shoe bag tote.

Negatives: Staff is very German and at times not very visible or without coverage at the desk, and doorman...(to get cabs..had to hail our own! ) Like I was back living in NYC

This is a wonderful hotel with great service and lovely spacious rooms. The bathroom was amazing and very clean. Our room was nicely updated and very large. The staff very helpful and friendly. One word of warning, we staid on Easter and the restaurant was booked, had to walk to the train station (just a few blocks) to get breakfast. The free snacks were a nice touch.

I could not write one negative comment about the Hessischer Hof Hotel in Frankfurt. It is a beautiful place, tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable but the without doubt the people make it. Everyone is super friendly, the service is fantastic and it's a high class hotel without being pretentious. Jimmy's Bar is also probably one of the best bars in the world. Fully recommend, AAA+.

Room Tip: stay in the executive rooms the extra living space is great and they're beautifully done.

I have used this hotel twice and, although I haven't stayed anywhere else in Frankfurt, I wouldn't hesitate to return. This hotel has wonderful, helpful, friendly staff and extremely comfortable and spacious rooms. My only regret that I only stayed for 1 night. The suite I had would warrant a much longer stay but unfortunately I couldn't do it justice. The breakfast spread is wonderful with plenty of choice. I also love the fact that there is a wonderfully atmospheric piano bar (admittedly I'm not keen on the smoke) but I could have spent much more time sampling their fantastic cocktails. The location is also great for the central area so I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.

Stayed for a couple of nights while on a business trip. The location is superb in front of the fair and within walking distance to the business center and main station. Service is very courteous and welcoming. Prices are subject to supply/demand with relatively good rates in offseason and deep-pocket stays while big-letter fairs are taking place. Sleeping quality is fair since I had problem with the pillows provided. You also can't fine-tune the air-con which is limited to cool / regular / warm. Cleanliness is outstanding but the single rooms are smaller than I expected. The desk has about six good magazines but it feels very cramped coupled with all hotel brochures. There's a free fruit basket and minibar is complimentary. However the fruit basket consists of a lousy banana, apple and pear, minibar is six drinks, thereof two beers and four softdrinks and no snacks. Further there is no bathtub. Breakfast is quite good but there's no chef on sight that you can ask for omelette or scrambled eggs. Heard the restaurant Jimmy's Bar is good. Overall, I expected more five star features.

Stayed here multiple times on work as it has some qwirky character which draws one back. Rooms are interesting...two single duvets on double bed, master switch almost on ceiling, room key weighing 4kg, Etro toileteries. You have to stay here to fully appreciate the eccentric character of this undoubtedly high end hotel. Service is very good and the food is definitely a strength. Only major drawback is absence of on site gym otherwise would rate hotel higher.

I stay at this hotel every time I am in Frankfurt. It is just across the street from the Messe Frankfurt, and the bahn station which is one stop from Hauptbahnhof. Comfortable beds with courtesy mini-bar. The past 2 times I have been here, I've stayed in the new wing, which is quiet - but note there is no avoiding a small set of stairs on the way to this wing - so ask for help with your luggage, or be prepared. The bathrooms in the new wing are huge with rain-style showerhead above and additional shower arm to hold, if you like and the tub has water jets. Practically white glove service in the dining area for breakfast - the buffet is plentiful! Jimmy's bar downstairs is an interesting way to end the night! Just know that cigar smoking is not just permitted - it's encouraged - cigars are sold here. The staff is phenomenal and they remember their returning customers.

Room Tip: Try the new wing for modern luxury, with key cards. Old part of hotel still uses brass keys, and ro...
