“Convience,Comfort, & Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2011

Being a new hotel, I expected some problems, but was unable to find any. I don't drive in Europe, and the location being close to the train station made it perfect for me to meet with several friends who live there. The reception was comfortable, and I was impressed with the security (you need a key for the elevator, floor, and room), which made me feel very relaxed. The breakfast, is wonderful with plenty to choose from. As per the norm (for me), English is well spoken. My room was quiet, overlooking a back alley. It was what I needed. Note though, the directions that Yahoo & Google give you, send you to the wrong end of the street (Red Light District). From the station walk down Kaiserstrabe then turn RIGHT Elbestrabe the hotel is 3/4 of a block on the right.

Dear Tripadvisor-User,

Thank you very much for your positive review.

It is nice to read that you liked our hotel and that the location was convenient for your free time activities.
Being located in downtown Frankfurt, our safety standard is set very high, it is very important for us that our guests feel safe and comfortable at our hotel and we are thrilled that we could exceed your expectations.
Since we are an international hotel chain, located in a city with a high international business rate, we also know that it is very important being able to communicate in different languages.

We really hope that we will see you on your next trip to Frankfurt.

Thank you and kind regards

From the moment I arrived in the Hotel, I was great with amazing services.
The room was large and modern.....
It was clean and kept clean by House Keeping throughout my long stay at Frankfurt.
The Hotel is near the Train Station and shortish walk into town...
The only dis-advantage was the hotel was near the red light district....
I would recommend this hotel....

Room Tip: Used the hotel website... and got a nest savings....

Dear Tripadvisor-User,

Thank you very much for your very positive review. We truly appreciate reading that you liked our hotel.
Since we are located downtown Frankfurt, it is very important for us to set a big safety standard.

For the main entrance (at night), elevator door, floor hallway door and the hotel room door, you need a valid room key. In addition, we have a 24 hrs front desk, at night there is always a night manager working, making sure everything is taken care of.

Thank you for recommending us, it is very important to us that our guests feel comfortable and safe for the time staying with us.

We hope to have you stay with us again.

Thank you and kind regards

From the booking in to booking out, service was excellent. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day and the cleaning staff polite and friendly. Reception was a dream compared to some other hotels. The test is when you run into challenges. Both of mine were not related to hotel faults and were dealt with immediately and satisfactorily. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, if a little short on variety, but that is nit picking! Site is ideal for station and to walk around the city. Well done, and meant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lifts and not adjacent to people with noisy children.

Good service and friendly staff. Very clean and fresh. Comfortable beds with choice of different pillows. Nice blue colour inside room. Bathroom very modern and elegant in black and white. Kettle for coffee and tea. Flat TV. Airconditioning. In-room safe too small for a laptop. Internet costs extra. Breakfast delicious but not many things to choose from.
A lot of restaurants and shops around the hotel and not far from the railway station.
I would gladly stay at this hotel again. It is priceworthy.

We arrived after a train ride from München in the central station of Frankfurt, Frankfurt Hbf. The hotel is a 10-minute walk away and not very close if you have very much luggage with you.

We entered the hotel and checked in around 16:30 with Ms. Sandra. She was very friendly and gave us our keys and a voucher for Internet. The normal price for Internet is 5 euro but I think because we are platinum members, we got it for free. We got room 311 on the third floor.

The elevator can only be used with a valid room key so keep that in mind. Also when we arrived upstairs, there is another door before the rooms and also needing a valid key card.

Our room was directly on the left and when we entered it was hot, very hot. No air conditioning was on and it was like 25 degrees inside. The room itself was new and very recent. There was a sofa bed, new TV, desk a safe and a closet. The bed was booked king size but I doubt it was one because it was very tiny and not really for two persons. The sofa bed had the same size. The safe was one of the most unhandy kinds I ever saw with a difficult to read manual.

The bathroom had a shower, toilet and sink. Bath products were not provided in small bottles but in 2 big all in one kinds. The shower was very big but not very clean with still hairs in it.

We had no view but that was not a must or anything we expected.

We asked that evening for a late check out for the next day to Mr. Jens who was the manager on duty. He wasn’t very friendly I have to say and he only allowed one till 14:00 even for platinum members. Otherwise we had to pay half-day rate for a late check out till 18:00, a bit absurd.

In the evening the room was still to hot to sleep in even though we put it on 5 degrees.

The next morning there was free breakfast downstairs and it was quit busy. There was no service so coffee, tee, orange juice is self-service. Only plates are emptied after a while. There was a choice of a few breads, croissants, juices and other basics. It was not very good but standard. Also no eggs or others.

The hotel is located on 10 minutes from the central train station and 20 minutes from the city center with the Myzeil shopping mall and other major stores, all walking times.

We checked out with a friendly mister without a name plate and he also took our bags for storage till the evening. In the evening we came back and Mr. Jens was there but did not say anything when we left, not even a good evening.

Room Tip: None, all are the same

Dear Tripadvisor-User,

We really apologize that you did not feel comfortable with us, nevertheless I would like to ask you not to lose confidence in Holiday Inn Express hotels worldwide.

We apologize for the issues you had to experience with the internet and the AC in your room. We always want our guests to feel comfortable while staying with us, unfortunately we weren’t able to make you feel comfortable.

It is sad to hear that you weren’t satisfied and found the staff members at the reception inadequate.
However, we thank you for your honesty, it is very important to us, that way we will always be able to improve our service.
We would welcome the opportunity to be your host once more in the future, if you will give it another chance.

Thank you and kind regards

The hotel is located very close to the main train station yet not close enough to be noisy. The hotel staff was very helpful and tried to make our stay comfortable. The rooms were large and spacious. The bathroom was clean and tidy. We will definitely stay in this hotel on our next visit to Frankfurt!!!

On a recent trip to Europe that used Frankfurt as a hub, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on Elbestrasse three times over a two-week period. I've used a number of budget hotels in the Bahnhofsviertel over the last few years, and this new hotel is undoubtedly the best I've stayed at. And right now, it's just about the cheapest too. I paid only €53/night (through booking.com) -- a pretty good deal for a hotel of this quality in this area. Presumably rates will rise once the hotel is better established.

The three rooms that I had differed only in size and seating: One was quite large and had a sofa; one was medium-sized and had an armchair; and one was small and had only the desk chair. The small room also had one sloping wall, which made it feel smaller and a little cramped when sitting at the desk. It came closer to what I'd expect to get in this area for only €53.

In all other respects, the rooms were identical. They were modern in design, and clean. The bathrooms had a large shower and good lighting, but no magnifying mirror and no little bottles. The bed was comfortable and came with a pair of pillows marked "soft" and a pair marked "firm".

Furnishings included a small desk with a swivel chair and lamp. There was a small closet but no shelves or drawers except for a small shelf under the desk. There was no reading lamp for the armchair or sofa; one has to position it under one of the nearby ceiling lights in order to sit and read. There was tea and coffee equipment, and a small safe -- passport wallets and phones only, no laptops.

The wireless internet cost €5 for 24 hours (less for shorter periods), and worked well.

Breakfast, included in the room rate, was very ordinary: a basic continental breakfast buffet with limited selection.

All of my rooms were very quiet (but none were on the street side of the building). Two of them looked out on an adjacent roof that appears to have been intended to become a roof-garden but which is presently a patchwork of tall weeds and a few wildflowers.

Front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
