We were looking for a late night kitchen and we found a great one. It's a bistro style bar with an excellent kitchen and a nice lively atmosphere. The menu is fairly typical German, but with an updated style. There was a list of schnitzel which was so appealing, but I don't eat veal! I asked him if they make it with chicken, and he said "no problem, how's turkey?" They were so accommodating, and it was EXACTLY what I wanted. It was perfectly cooked and so were the mixed veggies and potatoes. It was served with 2 sauces, mushroom and pepper (I couldn't decide!) . The mushroom sauce was so delicious on everything. Even the simple boiled potatoes were perfectly cooked, and somehow better than most. We also had the clear soup, fresh and delicious, with perfectly cooked not-mushy veggies. I didn't have room for the fresh waffle with vanilla sauce or ice cream, but next time I will try to leave room. It's a nice area of cafes, but we found this one's kitchen just a cut above the others we have been to. It isn't quite as trendy looking outside as some of the others, but it more than compensates by their desire to please. I reserve the Excellent designation for culinary artisans, but really for "home cooking" style, it gets an excellent.
