“great experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

I visited this museum with a friend, you have to book up to a couple of weeks in advance. Our time slot was running 20 mins late, so give yourself extra time.
The experience is fabulous, we went on the 90 min english tour and visited a streeet and went on a boat ride. It makes you realise how vulnerabel it feels to have no sight.
I would recommend it as a very unusual experience.

“A Real Blind Date”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Strangers? Awkwardness? Museum?

Sounds like a typical blind date, but at the Dialog Museum in Frankfurt, you get to enjoy a more literal experience of a blind date.

First, you are asked to lock up any electronics that light up. Second, you are taken to a dim hallway where you pick up your guide stick. Finally, you enter a pitch dark hallway where you are introduced to your guide, who leads you through the sandbox version of his dark world. Deprived off all sight, you rely on your guide, your stick, your new and very touchy friends, and your sense of hearing, touch, and smell to navigate four rooms each with its own inspiring experience.

I was emparted with a deep appreciation of the challenges that blind must face in a sight-orientated world. I appreciated interdependence in a way I never before. My blind guide had the experience and skill to get us safely through the museam. My person in front of me had knowledge of what was coming ahead. Since the guide's English was limited, much of the group also had to the language skills of those in the group who were bi-ligual.
