“RED LIGHT DISTRICT A LA FRANKFURT STYLE...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

Clean hostel rooms and linen with friendly staff on the front desk that were happy to help. The times they seemed to struggle with were check in where they couldn't really handle the numbers of check ins. That aside its a nice close walk from the Hauptbahnhof. As like a lot of larger hostels do, this place has organised evenings (BBQ's etc) which were run quite well from what I could see and were naturally a great opportunity to meet fellow travellers. Despite being located in the red light district of Frankfurt, the actual security of this hostel is good, This might seem like a strange thing but it was great for junkie watching whilst having your breakfast and coffee in the security of your hostel. I could waste hours just observing the happenings.

If you don't mind being surrounded by sex shops and having junkies shoot up all night across the street from you then this could be the place for you.

The hostel is very safe and like in many European cities the red light district is mostly harmless. It's really close to the train station as well.

The reception/communal area is bright, modern, and spacious. The reception doubles as a bar and there's even a sort of den downstairs with movies and a pool table. There always seemed to be a lot of staff walking about but only ever one person manning the desk which meant having to queue up for 10-15 mins just to ask a question or order a drink.

When we were there we joined in for the barbecue that took place out back.

The rooms were spartan but clean. The bathrooms are cleaned very frequently.

The sleeping experience is where this hostel falls short. We stayed in a six bed dorm five floors up and had to open the windows because it was boiling hot in the room. The downside to this is that all the noise carries up into the room - you can hear every word from every conversation in the street, it's like the junkies are right in the room with you!

Room Tip: Choose one that doesn't look onto the street if you can.

I was there for one night I had a double room with its own bathroom.
The hostel is good the service is so friendly, very convenient for youth.
Hostel is so close to the Haupanhauf but the street is a bit scary and noisy, full of prostitutes and game centers and gangsters + ugly smell.
The Hostel from inside is quite cozy the rooms are fine and clean, breakfast is fair also.
I would recommend this hostel for one or two nights maximum.

Room Tip: don't plan to stay for so long

Pretty solid hostel. Super clean, friendly desk people, nice common area with a bar and food. Breakfast was decent, cereals and breads. DIdn't partake but had alot of activities for people to meet each other. It is located in the red light district but was totally safe and even entertaining. Also due to the location it is right next to the main train station. Definitely recommend!

Spent a night here on a business trip to Frankfurt, a trade fair had booked all the usual hotels. Five Elements is about 4 mins walk from the main railway station and convenient for business centre (about 10 mins walk from ECB building), shops and museums (10 mins walk from Staedel gallery). Location is a bit seedy but not intimidating and there appear to be some interesting Turkish, SE Asian and Indian restaurants nearby. Room was clean and spacious with good shower. Breakfast was good and included in the price. Nice bar area and friendly, helpful staff. I would stay again

Room Tip: 6th floor rooms (where I stayed) have en suite bathroom and kitchen facilities

I want to say Thank you to Chris and Jaco, i had nice times there ( i been there twice). The breakfast is one of the best i've tried, the Staff is really helpful, the activities are cool, they give you nice maps, nice pool table, cool bar and you're really close from the Station... the only bad thing are the "places around".... but u can have parties there anytime... :p

Stayed 4 nights in the last week of October in 5 Elements Hostel Frankfurt apartment. the room booked for 4 persons was quite big. One of the beds was broken and noisy. Location is very good with easy access to main train station, exhibition, restaurants and shopping center but not friendly for family. Average paid for per night was more expensive than a 4 star hotel even in duration of cphi but no cleaning offered in the package. WIFI was included but poor and the very simple breakfast was not what we expected comparing the price paid for each night. Staff are very friendly and polite and helpful. The room was noisy and very humid and bad smelling somehow that we had to open the windows whole nights.
