“Far from Hbf and ok for a night or two ONLY”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Planned a weekend to Hamburg at the same time of the largest marathons so all hotels near the Hbf were booked. This hotel is quite far from the center - you have to take the U-Bahn (U1) and then a bus (171 or 271) or a direct bus (36). The rooms are average. We had breakfast there too, which was ok. I would recommend to stay there only in case of an emergency, else would prefer one closer to the Hbf. Also, they said they had free wi-fi but it doesn't work in the rooms :/

I ended up staying at this hotel at very short notice, due to a missed flight. First impressions aren't great - the area is remote from central Hamburg, bland and devoid of attractions. The hotel building itself is equally unimpressive and the reception looks like it hasn't changed since the Beatles were in town.

The stairways and corridors were also in desperate need of a lick of paint and some new carpets. Fire doors were wedged open and there was a ladder at the top of the stairs, leading up to an open loft hatch! The room itself was marginally better. Although looking tired and dated, it was clean and my bed was comfortable. Admittedly the lampshades were stained and we were missing a light bulb. The bathroom, while far from stylish, was also clean and functional.

Ultimately the hotel reminded me of the kind of place where I would have stayed when I was a student and travelling on a tight budget. Judged in those and terms and if priced around 30 euros, I would have been reasonably happy. However our room cost nearly treble that amount, which was daylight robbery.

Having missed our flight and the whole of Hamburg being full, this place was available at short notice.

I'm not sure who this hotel is aimed at - It's an odd location for a hotel, being sandwiched between a garage and business properties in a district of Hamburg not near to anywhere and it is easily missed when driving along, even when you know the address.

Reception is old-school wood straight out of the 70s. We got a twin room at the front - it wasn't as loud as other posters said, but we didn't have the window open as it was quite chilly. To be fair our room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, although the carpets have seen better days and both bulbs were missing from the stained lampshade. The bathroom was spacious and was also clean. Can't comment on the breakfast as we left at 5am to get a plane.

I'm not sure what would happen in a fire, as all the fire doors seemed to be propped open with rubber mats.

All-in-all this is nobody's idea of a 'destination hotel', but was adequate for a one-night stopover when nothing else was available.

I went with my wife and we booked a dobbelroom. When we arrived after a 4 hour driev, they told us they did'nt have any dobbelrooms, as we booked, so we got a single room and they put up a madress for me to sleep on. The room was SO dusty we just checked out the day after, and they told us there was no compensation, eventhough they promised us 20 EUR the day before!!! The hotel was the worst overnight experince ever!!!!

Cheap and slightly worn hotel with okay breakfast.
Large rooms, a little boring Location, but fine for a single night.
For a longer vacation it will not be recommended.

My room was facing the street which is quite loud. If you overlook the busy street you see a Baggersee and some small gardeninghouses - pretty. The double room was nice and big but the old carpet was well used and a bit dirty. Mould in the otherwise spacious, yet old, bathroom. Breakfast was surprisingly good.
