“Einfach, aber ganz okay!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

(ENGLISH – please scroll down.) / (Em PORTUGUES – mais abaixo)

* * * DEUTSCH:* * *

I stayed four nights in this hotel (single room ) . Yes , it's a low-budget hotel and this you should know before you book it , BUT everything is okay !

Very good:
- Near the central station , downtown, Shopping-Pedestrian zones , Alster, City Hall. You can reach everything walking !
- The bedroom was very clean! (Towels, Sheets, )
- The breakfast was also fine ( not as bad as some have written here). There was a small buffet with tea, coffee, cereals , 3 kinds of bread, butter , jam, honey, fruits (unfortunately no bananas ) , cheese ( 2 types ) , sausage and also some stuff for non-vegetarians .
- The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- The bedroom has no carpet ( thankfully !)
- In my single room there was even a shower . WC in the corridor but very close.
- Old building - but the room was renovated and well furnished (simple, but good enough ) .

Not really great:
- The first impression of the front door is not the best . ( "Am I in a decent hotel? " - I was asked myself when I arrived.) The reception is located on the 1st floor ( old building) without lift. All pretty simple. But all right .
- The central area is not quiet. There are no busy traffic on the roads in the corner, however people on the street are very noisy. (It was summer). Even with closed windows it was loud. So, for sensitive ears ( like mine ) do not forget to bring earplugs . But if you can sleep well everywhere, this noise will
not disturb you.
- At 7 clock in the morning there is street cleaning , every morning! ;-( ( But there are rooms facing the courtyard ! If you are lucky you get one.)
- There is Prostitution day and night outside the hotel door . But no one bothers anyone.
- There are carpets on the corridor and in the Breakfast room.. Although the carpet was in good condition, I do not find carpets hygienic!

There was no noise from other guests. Everything was pretty quiet in the hotel .

Hospei-me quatro noites neste hotel ( quarto simples) .

I've been in this Hotel /pension for a weekend.
Good quality and nice room for the price i paid for.
Is few meters far from the main train station and metro .Gay district not far .
I was disappointed when they asked me to pay cash and i didn't get any receipt.
On the other side when i booked they didn't ask any credit card deposit ...just an e mail and i got confirmation.
Breakfast could be much better like having yougurt for the cereal or croissant.
Toilet are shared in the corridor but very clean ,my room had a shower .
For a quick stay like a weekend is a good compromise between price and services offered

Kieler Hof is a traditional pension-hotel in the budget bracket where you get decent accommodation but no luxury. Located in the middle of St. Georg, the surroundings can be a little bit naughty and the entrance from the street may scare you off. Inside, however, you'll find a clean, simple establishment. As usual in this type of hotel, you will have a sink and probably also a shower cabin in your room. Toilets are communal. The doors are not soundproof, and if someone doesn't respect the usual rule of silence after 11 P.M. you or someone else may have to correct that person. Breakfast is simple but sufficient (eggs are served only on weekends...). No fresh fruit nor veggies, however.

Don't expect wonders for approx. 40 euros for a single room, but the location next to the Hauptbahnhof is great and if you don't mind the "specialities" described above you are definitely recommended to stay here.

Kieler Hof is quite an average, normal hotel. The main advantage are convenient location near the railway station and a cheap price. Breakfast has been served and included in price. Poor in quantity, continental type but nicely served. Personally, I am used to and would prefer a more hearty breakfast. The decor in the hotel and in my room was simple. Room is so-so. WC and shower are in the hallway. There was a sink in the room so you could wash and brush teeth. Bed linen, towels, soap and shampoo were provided. However, the light in bathroom twice were off, but was immediately fixed at my request.
In general, the hotel is clean and maintained in order. I can recommend it for budget travelers.

Hotel is situated not far from the central railway station, so it was very convenient for me to get to the hotel from the aiport, visit main places of interest in the city and continue my Germany trip by railway. I stayed in a room with shared facilities. Shower and toilet were in the corridor. In a room there was a washbasin. Room furniture were few and simple. The room itself and common areas were clean and maintained in order. Breakfast was included in a room price. It was advertised as a continental breakfast, so I expected just coffee and croissant, but they offered rather great choice to be called continental. Our room and reception were situated on a first floor. The stairs leading there are rather steep, so might be inconvenient for guests with large luggage. I think that this hotel is quite acceptable option for budget tourists.

We had just one night in Hamburg before travelling on to Berlin so the location of this place by the station was perfect. The room was fine, bedding very comfortable, shared toilets but not a problem as we were aware of that when we booked. We had our own sink in the room. Breakfast again is simple but nice enough. No complaints at all about this place.

Very close to the central train station Hauptbahnhof , so a good base for exploring more of the city via the u-bahn and s-bahn which is very cheap compared to taxis.
The room was adequate with a shared toilet - could find no English speaking channels on the satellite tv. Breakfast included very fresh two bread rolls, cold meat, cheeses coffee etc.
Hotel staff very polite.
The area is gay and the nearby streets have streetwalker prostitutes and some junkies and a few drunks. But pretty safe. There are some hostess bars nearby too but very quiet.
Overall at the price a good base to explore Hamburg from

Room Tip: I would not bother paying extra for an in-suite shower always free in the hallway Take a big towel...
