I wish someone would put the heating on. Or allow us to start a small fire in the corner. Maybe both.

“Ghosts & Philosophy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

(Good Guinness) I was sitting discussing German enlightenment philosophers with the owner one night when a shadow in the back caught my eye. I was sneaking outside for a puff another night when I saw the shape in the door. The shape was unmistakable. Many of us had grannies who talked about the ghost of the 'Black Dog'. It could be seen in lanes, by graveyard walls, standing on ditches and once mine swore she saw it in the middle of the road. It would stop the aas and cart and you'd have to find another route home. This dog of the Irish spirit world (along with one or two other unexplainable things) accompanied the previous owner from Co. Sligo on his first journey to Hamburg back in the 1970's... And it hasn't left since. Taking up lazy residence in this old world shambling drinking den. Possessing of certain people at certain times when it gets tired of itself and causing all sorts of strangeness to occur. And not all just to do with the drink! Though it is said that this Spirit Dog can inhabit a man and make him inhabited. Whisky (without the 'e') is often the recourse. Warsteiner beer is another favorite and many the man was brought to impale himself on this too. But curiously this canine Geist never goes for the Guinness. Maybe black on black doesn't do it for this cat? Maybe he can't get out of this world enough and needs to tweak his buzz with stronger gear? Maybe he has ghost dog intestines that after many centuries drinking the black stuff don't work no more. Maybe he woke up this morning and he was ghost? Every morning. Waking up as a ghost in the Shamrock Irish pub, Feldstr. Maybe he's a black dog with the blues? You may think this is horse bull? You may head yourself to this establishment to hunt this ghost dog and try prove or disprove his occurrence. You will surely find that either way you will be possessed. Whether 'tis by the fairy over the dart board or the dog in the door. But the best part is, you won't realise it till 2 days later. Something will click, something will shoot through your brain and stop you in your day. You'll squint your eyes, maybe put a hand to your head and whisper to yourself and the universe - 'Ohhhh F...'

Fantastic Irish pub right next to the St. Pauli football ground with great craic and atmosphere! Dart board and Tv screens for all the sporting events available and a genius pint of Guinness!
