Just adjacent to the old city center, the rebuilt warehouses reflect Hamburg's past and present as a major maritime. They present red brick architecture at its best and line the canal system where the barge traffic used to carry the imports and exports and now handle private craft and excursion boats. The buildings now house, museums, stores, offices, restaurants and hotels that fit so nicely into this most attractive section of the city. Strolling amongst them is a great passtime.
