“Good experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

What a good hotel and a great location, the staff were really helpful and couldn't do enough for us. We had a low down room so didn't have to walk up the stairs our friends had rooms on the top 2 floors so had to use the stairs, ok they were quite steep but ok to use, Some people had moaned about the size of the shower / toilet on here before we had one of these, it was fine a bit small but how long are you in there for. The room was very clean and tidy, didn't hear much noise, we had the breakfast this was good aswell, overall a good experience and would recommend this hotel with no problems at all.

right on the reeperbahn, close to the metro and seconds from all the action. only complain was no lift on the hotel side of the place, so quite a steep walk upstairs! also no problems with noise at all, and really nice breakfast :)

100% recommendable. Young staff, very helpful and answering emails back straight away concerning doubts or directions of how to get the hotel. Breakfast served in the morning is really worthy for 8€. Location is stunning, easy to get from and to the airport. At night, when the weekend comes can be a bit noisy since it's in the middle of the red district, but for easy sleepers like me, couldn't hear anything!

Have been coming to this place for many years now in it's former guise as "PJ's" and now "Pyjama Park" and usually come with friends to watch FC St. Pauli and to enjoy the local bars/clubs. Staff have to be the friendliest bunch you could ever meet which only adds to the special atmosphere of the hotel. It's very clean, safe and secure and located in the heart of the Reeperbahn. Hoping to get over again soon...

Room Tip: If you tire easily stay away from the upper rooms.... ;)

Great location and for that the price was fair. Right on the Reeperbahn which gave easy access to the whole of Hamburg; across the street is Molotow, check it out if there is a band playing, seems to be quite a funky scene. The staff in advance told us where would be cheapest to park which was helpful.

It is funky, above the small bar downstairs (which I found to be horrendous value with poor service, maybe it comes alive later - we went elsewhere in the evenings).

The room was good, large (we had paid for a large room) and sparsely furnished (most of the fittings were of a throwaway standard, which I guess is due to the groups that may stay). I was however a little disappointed to find the artwork wasn't original artwork but printed on wallpaper, but that's much a muchness.

Anyway my major two gripes.

One was the bathroom/toilet, which was RIDICULOUS, and for this it really shouldn't be sold as a hotel room (see the attached picture). The toilet door would not close or lock, and the worst thing was that you could barely use the toilet; and once you came from the shower (which had good pressure!) you ended up accidentally brushing the toilet :/ There was an additional "communal" toilet in the landing which negated the "intimate toilet moments".

Second was the doors/locks. The doors were definitely no firedoors, just light cheap doors, which had large gaps at the bottom, so did not stop noise from being transmitted. I also felt slightly insecure by the fact that it was a cheap lock, on a cheap door (and frame) which had obviously been forced before.

I would say, as a cheap and cheerful hostel this is great. As a hotel, this isn't recommended [for our stay, the room was obviously entered, bins emptied but not beds re-made].

Room Tip: Go with a group of friends and stay there for a hostel and your expectations will be met.

Ahoy from Hamburg!
Thank you for your kind words !
Yes unfortunately that is a curse and a blessing to our little hostel . The building is built in 1910 and does not allow us to enlarge the bathrooms. However, there are also size of the photographed only 3 pieces throughout the house. Give love to the next time you want a room with a large bathroom . We will try to meet you this favor. However, the toll is through the house our hostel has very small hallways ( up to 4 rooms). Thus, it is very winding and how we find " adorable " . The budget for a new building we did not so we have renovated everything with his own hands . We have a new budget had also been the investment would be so large that we would not have such room rates can realize ...

Of course your room had a "normal" door because it is not an escape the room . You located exactly opposite to the Reeperbahn is a specially escape the room . In case of fire you leave your room and escape the room öffnest automatically open . There is a corresponding fire -proof door . On each floor such escape the room next to the normal escape route is established. This serves as a second escape with a point for evacuation by the fire department . Escape plans and descriptions in your room to explain this ... maybe the night was too hard and you had no time you see the detail. ;-))))

We hope to show you the next time and hope to see you again soon!

Brilliant location and groovy decor. What I liked most about it was the friendliness of the receptionists, we got a really warm welcome and everything seems to be very well organized. We also got some good tips for bars/restaurants around the area and ended up having a brilliant night out!

The room was small but very clean, and we liked the fact that towels and toiletries are provided. The bed was comfy! The shared bathrooms seemed clean too.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5/5 is the fact that the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbours and their "activities" very clearly... it meant that we only got about 3 hours of sleep in the end. But no big deal.

If I go back to Hamburg I'll happily stay here again!

Many thanks for your kind words!
This makes us very proud. Yes, our policy is to provide an approximate "standard hotel" in a "hostel" ... to "Hostel price". As it is for us the bed sheets and towels must be free.

We hope to see you soon again in spite of the "activities" of your neighbors.
Since our hostel was built in 1910, it is hardly possible to reduce the noise on .... Otherwise we would have to pull completely new walls that we can not afford. As little noise we have placed additional free Earplugs ready for people with a light sleep on the pillow.

Hope to see you soon!

whilst driving around europe we stayed here en route to Poland. It was incredible, much better than the apartmant we had previously stayed in. Landlord was very kind and friendly, told us what to do with our night in Hamburg and gave us recommendations on where to eat. There were many parking spaces across from the hostel and also lots of bars and things to do. Would definately recommend for anyone!
