This hotel is one of the most Luxurious ones I've been in the Business type. The standard bed price will get you the nice extra of the spa which is a great plus.
The rooms are wonderfully designed and the view to the lake made my mornings.
Lowlights:
The breakfast costs an extra EUR 30 out of a EUR 200/day price, it was the best breakfast of a business hotel I've had though.
Internet options: The daily rate is EUR 27. If you rather not pay that horrendous amount, you can use a computer in the lobby which instead of letting you use a session-clean browser, they opted for running a kind of "Net cafe" software controlled session, which doesn't let you for example, use Chrome and an Incognito session so your cookies don't stay floating around. You're stuck with a useless IE based browser that isn't secure and won't even let you use Google Maps. Did they even bother on testing it?
The TV on-demand system pretty much wants you to pay for anything you watch on the room, I didn't even bother, the signal quality was crap.
I don't understand why they put those alarm clocks with Ipod Docks and don't bother to include an audio adapter for other devices. I don't have apple devices.
Sauna: It's mandatory to enter the wet sauna naked. I've been in other hotels were it isn't and I found this very disturbing since when I saw an overweight lady completely naked walking as if she was in her bathroom.

Check-in: quick and professional, help offered for luggage
Rooms: wonderful, wel equiped, nice shower, good beds, fantastic Alster view (go for this kind of room!)
Spa: 10-12m pool, very clean, friendly staff, nice and wel equiped fitness
Breakfast: WONDERFUL! Great view, excellent quality, eggs on demand, waffles, pancakes,...

All goes together with constant friendly service, always a smile and you get the feeling that employees like their job.

It is a short walk to the city center, perfect location
Parking is with 26/29 Euro quite expensive but you can easily find a place free of charge nearby.

A great welcome with an efficient check-in. The Alster view room made a difference - even with a misty and cold December in Hamburg. The hotel is perfectly positioned for a 10 minute walk to the Rathaus along the Alster - or just a few minutes to the unique restaurants, bars and shops on the Lange Reihe. There is a small swimming pool, sauna ad steamroom when you feel like taking an afternoon off from the Christmas markets. The concierge was extremely helpful - right down to wrapping some Christmas presents to assist concealment on the trip home. Top floor bar with vhas well made and reasonably priced cocktails. The rooms are modern and typically Le Meridien - think pale wood, backlit glass, bamboo in vases and slick bathrooms - plus spacious and ultra clean.

The online booking very straightforward, staff were very welcoming and friendly. We looked like backpackers (as you do when you're a couple of freezing Aussies in Germany :-), but were treated respectfully and given great service in restaurants, room and reception. We included breakfast in our booking and it was well worth the money. Restaurant is rather expensive as is buying bottles of wine for the room. (Take your own is my advice) Fabulous brekky that set us up for the day. Only criticism I would have was that you have to pay for wireless access in the room - and it was 24 hours at time. I know many other hotels also charge, but really, when you pay this much for a room, why charge for wireless? There was access to wireless and computers in the lobby. Room was compact, fabulous view over the lake (esp for the New Years fireworks) and I would definitely stay there again.
