“Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

Fantastic hotel with friendly and comfortable (although small) rooms. Lovely views over the river and harbour and conveniently located close to U and S Bahn trains and bus routes. Breakfast buffet very good with lots of choices. Beds very comfortable. Wifi limited to certain rooms and areas only so make sure you book in these rooms if it is important to you. Tower Bar very nice.

We stayed in an Elbe-view room, the enjoyment of which was magnified by floor-to-ceiling windows. However, there are other things (like, the S bahn trains) in this locale which are inclusive with the Elbe view, so one must flex a bit. Appreciated the earplugs in the room, as I am a light sleeper and the S bahn ran under our window.

Room was quite comfortable and supposedly a nonsmoking room, but I had the impression that it had been smoked in previously, due to unpleasant lingering scents. We were very surprised to very clearly hear someone running water in the adjacent room - thankfully, only once.

Breakfast was excellent - much to chose from, and friendly servers. The front desk personnel were also very friendly.

The hotel's maritime theme is, of course, something special and very "Hamburgisch".

Tower Bar at the hotel is a popular one in Hamburg - note, it does permit smoking, but the view was excellent (get there early - it fills up. I believe one can reserve until 10:30 but not later).

It was highly recommended to us to visit the Hamburg Turkish Hamman right across the street - looked enticing, but we didn't have enough time.

Stayed here on business for a week in Feb 2013. The hotel is set up high overlooking the Elbe river very close to Landungsbrucken which has a main underground train station and ferry stop which makes getting around very easy. It's a fairly central location with plenty of restaurants nearby.
My room was what they call 'Commander' class which is supposed to be one of the better ones. It was a fairly standard 4 star hotel room, nothing fancy and no view of the river. Unfortunately the external glass elevator passed right by my window so there wasn't much privacy, but only a small handful of rooms would be affected. Nice bar area with lots of atmosphere which is rare for hotels. Front desk staff were excellent and extremely helpful but bar staff were fairly abrupt. Good food, well priced and very tasty.

I had a nice view to river and to the shipyard and specially after daylight it was magnificient. The hotel is clean and has very nice marine flovour furniture and ambiente. The internet connection wasn`t too good though and in the rooms, there is no WLAN connection but for Germany it`s almost normal))) I will definately choose it for my next trip.

It is difficult to say something extraordinary. Hotel is clean, located in city center, internet is free. Rooms in the old part of the hotel are nice and have river view. New part of the hotel is like labirinth and rooms are looking at street. Breakfast is good.

Room Tip: take a room in the old part

I stayed here on a friday evening which was probably a bad choice. There was a lot of noise from the bar area below the hotel. I think the fact that ear plugs were already in the room means some more people had the same problem. Rest of the hotel was ok. Nice room. Excellent breakfast.

Great location for the river, I was working at the Bloom and Voss, ship yard, take the Elbe tunnel 20 minutes walk. 5 minute walk to the Reeperbahn putting to one side the adult nature of this area there good restaurants and theatres.

Excellent breakfast of European fair, never eat in the evening.

The tower bar gives excellent views of the harbour and for those that do...! smoking is allowed.

Room Tip: No wifi in rooms if you want this facility take a laptop and not a tablet like me. Ask for additiona...
