“Fantastic cool hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

Stayed for two nights on business trip and could not recommend more, very cool decor, excellent food, great atmosphere in the evening. Thursday evening DJs play and Friday a live band play, staff are very polite and helpful, the room was immaculate, good bed linen and comfortable bed. Guests should try local restaurant East Coast few minutes walk towards harbour, another great venue! Would highly recommend this hotel. Guest were of a mixed age.

This hotel appears to be in a very up-and-coming area in Hamburg. Lots of construction going on, but we were not disturbed by it in the room. There is a new U-bahn train station across the street from the hotel. It's so new that it wasn't even on the transit map that the front desk gave us. The hotel is very convenient for sightseeing whether you want to take transit or walk. We drove to Hamburg and parked in the garage next to the hotel, which was very well-priced at 10 Euro per day. The hotel has its own dedicated parking area in the garage. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as we thought it was over-priced, but we did eat in the restaurant 3 times during our stay. I had fish and chips all three times - it was that good! The hotel is part of the Design Hotels group and has a very young, funky sort of vibe. Even though this was a couples trip, we stayed in a room with bunk beds and it was kinda fun! The hotel has a nautical theme. The shower/water pressure was probably the best I've experienced in Europe - my husband wanted to take it home with us! A couple of downsides to the room were lack of storage space and only one chair in the room but overall it was a great stay and we would not hesitate to stay here again the next time we visit Hamburg.

Excellent site, convenient location in a modern high/tech industrial architecture area in a walking distance to the old part of the city. Nice clean and spacious rooms equipped with unique designed furniture and accessories, cabin - like bunk beds, long hallways, all reminding of maritime history and harbour neighborhood (even the staffs sailor like Tshirts and trousers!). Lively restaurant at the groundfloor, friendly and cool staff, lobby boutique with beautiful design items. :-D Definitely a place to visit not only once! and cool industrial surrounding area to explore for those who like the good design flavour and the see breeze!!

It doesn't take much for a 'design' hotel like this to lose track of what matters: comfort. 25hours Hotel has found a pleasant balance - and what I like about its design is that it doesn't feel too 'arty'. It actually feels quite raw and sophisticated at the same time.

Our room was comfortable, spacious enough and nicely decorated. Location of the hotel is OK, feels slightly remote (nearest train station about a 10min walk). Breakfast was great. And the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Tip: Apparently they have some MINIs you can borrow. Be quick to ask as none was available during our short stay.

Another tip: visit the Sternschanze area for some food and a beer. And if the sun is out, visit the Planten un Blomen park.

My husband and I stayed for one night and had a wonderful time. The staff were very friendly from the start, from guiding us to the parking garage to making sure we could check in early without having given advance notice. They also sold us tickets for a sightseeing tour and told us where the nearest supermarket was (right around the corner).

The room we had was very clean and a good size, with a great view across the harbour and a big bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The hotel is all about maritime design and little special touches. The wallpaper in the room showed sailors and seafaring memorabilia, with the guest book describing the motifs in more detail. There was an iPod dock, environmentally friendly soaps and shower gels, and a very comfy bed.

There is free wifi, an office space that is free to use, a room full of vinyl records and should you enjoy jogging, a little complimentary refuelling station in the lobby in the morning.

The hotel is in easy walking distance (about 20 minutes) to the city centre and shopping streets, and there are bars and cafés in the immediate vicinity also. If you take the bus, you can be in St. Pauli within 10 minutes.

We had breakfast in the hotel, too, which was absolutely worth the price. The unlimited buffet was very large, and offered bread, cheese, coldcuts, yogurt, muesli, a selection of loose-leaf teas... I had delicious scrambled eggs with sausages and bacon and the best cherry compote I have ever tasted.

I wish we would have had more time to stay here and will definitely be back if we come to Hamburg again.

We stayed at the 25hours Hotel HafenCity for three nights between Xmas and New Year. The first impressions were good, the hotel is easy to find and only within 10 minutes walking distance to the city centre. Check in was quick and we got an upgrade to a room with a port view instead of the courtyard view. Worth asking for, rooms best the higher you go (up to sixth floor), whereas harbour view will be more limited in future when more developments go up across the street. Also very worth booking well in advance as you are likely to pay double for a standard room at shorter notice.

The standard size room is a great size with surprisingly high ceilings for a new built, the design of the hotel and rooms is inspired by the harbour and the lifestyle of sailors, shipping containers in the reception, use of timber from wood palettes and reference to countries around the globe in the room with some semi-nude painted women on the wallpaper and in the bathroom... maybe not to everyones taste, but worked with the rest of the interior.

One small thing to point out, I knocked my head a few times on the low headboard above the bedside table and apparently other guests complained about it as well, watch out as it was painful! The bathrooms are great size too with walk in shower.

The breakfast was a little bit of a let down as the Heimat restaurant on the ground floor seemed to small for the early morning crowd and the buffet was also a bit crowded, so we only made us of it once as it wasnt really the most enjoyable experience, unless you want to make friends with everyone else in the hotel. I have also written a small review of the cafe 'Lieblingsplatz' just around the corner which is a perfect alternative.

Another slight surprise was also the in-room dinner. A small menu was displayed on the 'desk' in the room and after late arrival and being hungry decided to order, all great, but was then being told to pick up the food from the ground floor restaurant. Hmm, and it wasnt the easiest thing to balance two trays plus having to touch the card reader in the lift to get back up to the room... my recommendation to the hotel, dont offer it as 'in room dining' if you cant deliver it.

Another slight damper was also that for two of the three nights a family with two small children stayed at the opposite room, sound insulation isnt as high standard as I would have expected from a new hotel... just ok, but the good bed and duvet made up for a good night sleep.

Finally, the new U4 undeground train station Ueberseequartier opened at the end of November 2012 right opposite the hotel which we only discovered on the final day... it is only one stop - about 4 minutes to Jungfernstieg which gets you right into the centre of Hamburgs top shopping location and the Alster.

All in all I would probably come back as it is value for money if booked well in advance and the location is great for the new harbour city as well as short walk to the centre of town. Some small improvements thought that the hotel could work on like the room service and the headboard detail, my head will be thankful.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor and harbour view, also dont be afraid to ask to be located away from the 'f...

"Hafen-City" is the area of the future, because the redecoration of former harbor areas into new center and living areas, new design and shops and businesses are planning to make new business. As always in time of transmission, construction areas are the face at this time. The hotel is different , because it is a DESIGN HOTEL. The service is well trained, polite, friendly and positive.
Rooms good, we had a corner room with bath. Design in the bath to much brown, and to low lights.
Hotel was good booked, seems that people like the design and hotel.
Restaurant good, service good. You feel well at 24hours in Hafencity!

Room Tip: Corner room with the view to the harbor.
