“Don't book at this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

I usually don't write reports but this is an exception to save people spending money in this horrible hotel. It might used to be a 4 star hotel 40 years ago but it looks like time stopped for the this hotel.

Everything is old and abandoned. The carpet in the room was smelling. The blanket of the bed was for a single person even if the bed was double. As a matter of fact the blanket should have been for kids and not for adults. The double bed had two single bed sheets.

Save your money and don't book on this horrible hotel

I stayed for a couple of days at this hotel.
the hotel is quite old and you see (like the bathroom of the floor) it.
But the service is good and the location is great.
If you just want stay for a couple of nights in a central location it is good. if you want some nice time, I recommend another hotel.

The hotel is very well located across from the main train station. Although the hotel is old it does retain an old world charm, the foyer area is quite nice. Basic but if location is important this hotel is value for money.

This hotel is in such great location, in front of the main train station and very good access to the center of Hamburg by foot.
Only the problem is the room...
It is totally outdated,
keys are real keys not even card keys..
parking bit inconvenient and expensive.
If you like Bikram yoga, there is a studio right behind this hotel.
front desk stuff, friendly.

It will be another opinion that hotel looks like 2 * hotel and requires total renovation. Beds are uncomfortable, equipment is old, etc. But it seems that hotel doesn't care: there were really a lot of guests, hotel is just by main train station so there will be always someone stupid to come.

This hotel brings back the old luxury hotels from years ago.

There is no A/C in the rooms. In summertime you need to open the windows.

The bathtub is too high and very slippery.(unsafe!)

There were both a modern and an antique elevator, either you could use.

Buffet dinner at the restaurant and breakfast buffet were very good.

This is a grand old hotel that seems to be struggling to bring itself into the current century. The ambience in the lobby and especially the dining room tells of elegant times gone by. The evening meal after the short walk from the station was very good, as was the breakfast buffet. However my room was looking its age and could use some redecoration and modernisation. There was a very old TV. WiFi signal was poor and required payment so I did not use it. There were no coffee making facilities. The bed was ccomfortable and everything was clean. The combined bath and shower had no anti-slip mat.
