“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2011

Very modern hotel. It is very funky - lots of black and red . The rooms are spotless as are all areas of the hotel. Loved the smell of the vanilla candles in reception when we returned in the evening - a lovely touch. The possition is excellent a stone's throw from the lake and next to endless places to eat. The walk to the centre is about 15min or take the tram from just outside the hotel. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful especially thank you Joanne and her friend who were on the desk and able to answer our questions with a smile.
Easy to get to from the airport. Buy tour ticket then take the S1 to the main station. Exit to Kirchenallee. Cross the road and catch the metrobus 6. Two stops to the hotel.
I would certainly recomend this hotel to anyone visiting Hamburg for business or pleasure.

Staying in this nice small hotel for 3 weeks and can only say that that the service have been outstanding from the beginning till the end.

Rooms are cleaned well and housekeeping staff friendly, we stayed in the junior suite what was a nice and comfortable room with a nice big bad room.

The reception staff all very friendly all the time, the bar staff very friendly and made you feel as a guest would like to feel.

The Italian restaurant had good quality food for a good price, breakfast was nice and staff in the morning very helpful.

Due to my work I stayed in many many hotels around the world and I can only think about one better hotel I have been in over the years and that is hotel Trofana Royal in Ischgl but if you compare the price then I can say this is one of the best and friendliest hotels I have been.

I love this place. Just a shirt walk to the train station and city centre - ideal hangover cure.

Great bar and friendly atmosphere.

The George Hotel is a very stylish and cozy place located very close to the Aussenalster lake. The interior of the hotel is very attractive, both in the room and in the lounge and bar. I particularly liked the little library lounge near the lobby. Staff were very nice and polite. Unfortunately the roof terrace was closed in December. Should come back in the summer!

I am a fan of modern design with clear lines and no fuss so i loved the interior of the George! It feels funky, modern and stylish without missing out on the business traveler's must-haves: free wireless, nice bathroom toiletries, large wardrobe, bathrobe & slippers and so on. As a female traveler i loved the huge walk-in shower, the fluffy carpet , the free magazines and the warm, cosy feel. Only small complaint (as in many design hotels) - all that indirect lighting leaves the room a little dark when the sun goes down. And why do the hairdryers have to have that thumb-numbing safety button???

The Hotel is very close to the Außenalster and very close to the nice street Lange Reihe, where many little shops, Bars and Cafés are located. It is also not dar to the train station or to the city centre!
The hotel itself is nicely furnished in a black british style and the rooms are spacious and cozy. Also the bar in the hotel is recommendable and the price for the stay is reasonable.
Check also the spa!

The George is one of the newest upscale design hotels of Hamburg. It's located in the upcoming neighbourhood of St. George, extremely close to the Aussen Alster lake, and with a bus station right by the hotel's entrance. There are partial views of the lake from some rooms. It's decor is a contemporary taking on english style, with a little bit gothic influences, like the dark atmosphere throughout. Rooms are spacious, and equiped with every amenity one might need, especially considering it's officialy a 4 star hotel. There is room for improvement in the variety of breakfast. Staff was generally efficient and friendly. Free wifi is a plus as well.
