“Nice hotel, friendly staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

When I recently visited Bremen I stayed at the Prizeotel in the city. It is very close to the train station (out of the back of the station and turn left). It’s probably a ten minute walk to the town centre though. The staff were very friendly and spoke English. The room was clean and pleasant. Breakfast was good. I’d go back there.

This is by far the best budget hotel I have stayed at. Everything down to the bins has been designed specifically for this hotel, meaning it's full of character. You can tell a lot of effort has been made to make the hotel unique and the attention to detail does make for a pleasurable stay. The location is also really handy with it being very close to the train station, meaning the Altstadt is only a 10 minute walk away. It's also easily accessible from the airport by getting Tram 6 to the train station - less than fifteen minutes and only a few euros.

Pros-
Very clean hotel
Double beds had separate mattresses making it easy to convert into a twin
Large TV
Central Location
Free Wifi in rooms
Shower gel/ Shampoo dispenser in shower
Hair dryer
Friendly Staff
Very well priced

Possible improvements-
Tea/Coffee making facilities would be welcome
The pillow was large and flat, meaning you had to try and fold it to find comfort

All in all, a very enjoyable stay. A very good price for a nicely designed, clean and comfortable hotel. I wish more budget hotels could be like this.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a wardrobe, ask for one!

I traveled to Germany for the CeBIT (ICT exhibition) which holds in Hannover every March. Due to astronomical prices hotels in Hannover were requesting for during the CeBIT period together with the "non-refundable" conditions I decided to stay at the next large German town outside Hannover and not make-do with some ramshackle motel in hannover's countryside. Thus my choice of Bremen (1hr 15mins by train from Hannover) and consequently choice of Prizeotel for my accomodation with its number one rating on Tripadvisor and affordable rates (my room rate was about 60 euros per night) which could be a bit cheaper depending on how you make your reservations. My title says it all as most of the previous reviews of this hotel "Design, Budget and Location". LOCATION was superb with the central train station a 5 minute walk away. The numerous shops and restaurants at the train station turned it into a mini-city of sorts. Any traveller should get all items needed at the train station. DESIGN of hotel was peculiar but still rather homely. Got their color combinations and design right. Quite a BUDGET for quality of hotel. Am sure in many areas Prizeotel even though not even a 3 star hotel will put a 5 star hotel to shame ! The staff were politely respectful but not overflowing with pleasantries and discourse as you will find in other establishments but every culture and society have their manners and traditions. I found their choice of pillow odd - very flat - and wonder the reason behind this choice. Had to fold it to enjoy sleeping on it. As many review have stated there are no wardrobes in the rooms and not much space but for the overall quality, cleanliness and fine finishes this shortcoming can be easily ignored. The hotel only serves breakfast and has no restaurant but the breakfast is quite good albeit a bit expensive if you compare with what you could get at the train station. Nonetheless I enjoyed the breakfast and will not hesitate to recommend. The hotel was very quiet, maybe due to the season of the year, I sometimes wondered whether I was the only person on a floor ! The free wireless internet provided was invaluable as well as the computer and printer in the lobby to print out your few documents e.g. air ticket. I know of many 4 - 5 start hotels where internet service is terrible and very expensive if available. Overall it will be hard not to prefer Prizeotel as the preferred place of stay if ever I were to return to Bremen and will definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Bremen who is in search of suitable accommodation. The numerous awards of excellence hanging in their stairway were all surely deserved.

I was plesantly surprised when I walked into the hotel very late at night. The night staff were very forthcoming and friendly. Although you must pay the bill on arrival, the process was very quick and I was on my way to the room within a few minutes.
Security started in the elevator as you need to scan your room key to get to your designated floor. Room was very clean and towels were changed every day. Loved the colours all around the hotel and although some people wrote that they did not like the plastic look - I thought it was a great change from other hotels. AND to the grumblers.. lets face it, if I don't like it I don't book it!!
Breakfast had a good selection on food and coffee (do not know about tea as I drink coffee in the morning).
As the bill was already paid, you just put your key into the box and do not have waits to check out.
Thanks again for a great stay.

A "chain" of hitherto two hotels, one in Bremen, one in Hamburg. The approach is similar to franchises like Motel One, something I like to call Budget/Design Accommodation . One may argue about the design - it looks a bit like somebody in the 80s imagined what the year 2013 would look like ... but hey - I grew up in the 80s so I don't mind. Location is excellent, just one block down from the central station (but pretty quiet). Therefore, public transport is also not far away (trams and buses ... and trains, obviously). There are also some supermarkets and fast-food restaurants nearby. I quite liked the rooms - pretty colorful (see picture) but really clean and functional. A goodly sized flatscreen, a bed, a chair, a desk, a very pink lamp and a/c ... all in good shape. Everything looks quite new and friendly. The bathrooms are large enough for all major purposes and I just loved the showers.

One of the greatest features is the professionality and friendliness of staff members, starting right at the moment when you check in. It just seems like they always have a smile for you. Breakfast is 11,- EUR per person per day but I did not regret the expense. A good choice of cold cuts (three kinds I think), cheese, jams, cereals, juices, coffee, boiled eggs, different kinds of bread and rolls. Totally satisfactory.

Some nice touches: free WiFi in all rooms, complimentary bottle of water.

Budget accommodation at its best.

PROs:
- central location
- very friendly and helpful staff
- very clean
- wonderful showers
- a/c
- nice breakfast at an ok price
- freaky design ;-)

CONs
- none (!)

This modern, very stylish designer hotel provides bed and breakfast and is excellent value for money. It's location makes it an excellent choice for a few nights close to the exhibition centre, railway station and city centre.

Someone has taken a lot of trouble to a add a touch of style and flair to this hotel, from the futuristic silver sofas in the bar area to the quirky mirrors in the bedrooms. If you don't much care for modern design then you are still left with a clean, comfortable hotel, friendly, helpful staff and excellent value for money.

The location is very close to the central station (Hauptbahnhof) which is connected to the airport by a fast and frequent tram service (no. 6). The station is one of the main hubs of the tram network, so most other parts of the city can be easily reached too. It is a steady 15 minute walk to the centre of the old town.

Note that the double beds have two single mattresses and two single duvets, which may not be to everyone's taste.

Hey KarlosStag,

Thanks a lot for rating our hotel. The "someone" in your comment was our designer Karim Rashid. He has designed everything in our hotel. To your comment with the two mattresses, this is on the one side to make the work of our colleagues in the housekeeping departement not harder than it actually is. On the other hand a lot of couples prefer the separated mattresses because so they don't feel every move of their partner when they are asleep.

Kind regards,

Your team of prizeotel Bremen-City
