“Lovely place - curry not quite up to the pace”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Went for the buffet lunch in this welcoming place in a really nice area of the City. Really liked the restaurant overall - so just wish the food had been a bit better. Everything was fresh. The selection was fine, but not massive and whilst it was all tasty it was a little bland compared with currys you might have had in other veggie buffet places.
Would go back - as it's a nice place and enjoyed our meal. But just don't expect to have the best curry you've ever had.

“Good food, but highly priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

We were in Berlin for a long weekend with parents and looking for vegetarian options to eat. Found this on trip advisor with mixed reviews but decided to give it a try nevertheless. Food options were interesting and portions were large and tasted freshly cooked. Prices were unusually high for a place with basic ambience and simple food options (for an Indian at least).

“Excellent vegetarian options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Went here and the dosas were big, flavourful and highly satisfying. there was only one waitress but she did an amazing job of making sure everybody was served. good family run restaurant, adequate prices too. Very happy they had a salted lassi. I would recommend this to anybody who likes indian or south indian dishes, and also great for vegetarians.

“About average or below”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

First, what Satyam proclaims itself as being: Indian, Vegetarian food, authentic. What it is: a very watered down, semi-authentic, Vegetarian, Indian restaurant. To be honest, this is what people with little experience of actual good, Indian vegetarian food think good Indian vegetarian food is like. For an Indian, from India (which I am), the food was not very tasty, had very little spice (or salt) and is what I would describe as just about acceptable, for the price paid (not cheap)
We (my wife and I) visited this restaurant, we ordered two vegetables, chapati and samosa and pakoda, stressing that we would like the food "very spicy". The Samosa and pakoras were almost sweet, the vegetables ("sabji's") were missing some spices and had too much of others, and in general, were edible but felt like food for those on a "sick" diet (i.e. hospital food in India), in terms of spice and salt. The vegetables come with a good quantity of rice, but none of them tasted very good; the "mixed veg." dish tasted like boiled vegetables with tomato sauce, and the "sarson ka saag" (in addition to having pieces of paneer, strangely) tasted like a distant cousin to the actual dish. The "raita", ordered as an afterthought, tasted very much like diluted sweet yogurt, with pieice of onion floating in it (not many other vegetables could be discerned!).
The service was acceptable, but never rose above it (the guy who provided us additional spoons and cups asked to tell him if we wanted anything else, in terms of cutlery, "right away"!).
Overall, this is not a place I would recommend to people who are looking for authentic Indian vegetarian food; especially for visiting Indians, this is not a place I would recommend. For those who are in the neighborhood and are desperately seeking Vegetarian options, this is not a bad place. But be warned, it is not cheap. I really like the idea, a vegetarian, Indian restaurant in (meat-heavy) Berlin; execution, however, leaves too much to be desired.

“Indian food but not indian in taste”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

It was atleast good to read some indian items in the menu card, however taste wise it was not close to Indian. But I was satisfied that I atleast got some thing vegetarian to eat in berlin... Restra was serving the buffet and it costed around EUR but out of the menu I liked only 2-3 items....
