“Great Bonn bar in Berlin. Nice kolsch, location & decor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Found this bar by chance while looking for a late evening (10pm) coffee. Pretty sure its located where some of the Bourne movie was shot (the railway bridge looked very familiar). Sat inside as there was a chill coming off the river. We ended up having beer, strudel and coffee (first 2 great, coffee average). However, the waitress was great, the decor really interesting and the menu very informative ( a history lesson while ordering food!)
Kolsch, a Cologne 'protected designation' beer, served here in typical small, tall glasses was pretty good. Would return if back in cologne.

“Go for Flammekuchen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

Found by chance, this restaurant (or pub?) become the number one because of so called Flammekuchen being kind of pizza (?) on ultra thin crust with delicious ingredients including herbs. Perfect place for lunch or beautiful evening on the Spree river. Go there, try their beer, learn about history of two countries (BRD and DDR - not forgetting what communism really was), and eat this great dish.

“A Berlin favorite -- with much improved food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2012

I love going to this Bonn/Berlin establishment, and was able to visit three times on my last trip. While in the past the food has been less than stellar, it has been over six years since I've been back and it was a pleasant surprise to be served very good, interesting dishes. As always, go for the atmosphere and the beer, but now you can stay for a meal, too.

“Worth A Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2012

Hovering halfway between traditional pub and trendy bar (and managing to be neither), it appeals to a broad enough range of people to slowly fill up as the evening progresses. Plenty of tables, nice bar staff, great Kolsch and traditional German food. Prices were not too exorbitant considering the area. The occasional weird punter.

“Great flammkuchen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

StaV is best in the summer when you can sit at the table by the Sprey and watch the boats go by. In the winter months when you need to sit inside it can be crowded and noisy somewhat like a beerhall. It does without doubt serve the best flammkuchen we have had in Berlin and it is well worth a visit for lunch or a very casual dinner to taste it. They also serve the traditional beer from Cologne, Kolsch. You can of coursse just go for drinks, they stay open relatively late but not into the small hours of the morning.
