“Fantastic meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Absolutely fantastic meal here. Expensive, so be prepared for £150 per head at least in the restaurant, but worth doing for a special occasion. Very well looked after by knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. They even brought out a special birthday cake for my wife at the end of the evening, although after 8 courses, we barely had any room left. Very well spoken English. Lots of different German wines so we could have a different wine for each course. Sommelier knew what he was doing and knew to back off when we had enough.

“The special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Sit at the bar, order the special and add the matching wines. One of the most enjoyable, well prepared meals I had had in a lively, fun atmosphere. I can't wait to go back as the whole experience was great and it worked really well as a place to eat before heading out to experience the rest of amazing Berlin.

“Listen to the recommendations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

This was a wonderful dining experience. Small and very intimate. The staff was superb and very attentive but not "smothering". The waitress was fun and very knowledgeable. The sommelier made the night perfect. I decided to take their direction on every aspect of the meal and it was perfect. The center piece was an aged beef which is one of their specialties. From start to finish, a great night.

“Real and Excellent German Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We decided to try this place out (the Weinbar, not the restaurant) while visiting Berlin for Chrismas shopping. Main attraction were the very German items on the weinbar's menu and we were not dissapointed. Food you can't buy just anywhere. Very good and and excellent wine collection too. Pleasant service and accomodation.

“Excellent experience (by accident)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

There are two floors in this restaurant: ground floor being a high end bistro and 1st floor fine dining cuisine. When I booked a table I thought it would be only the bistro and I realized they had two concepts only after the dinner (in the fine dining floor), but it doesn't really bother me as the experience was unforgettable (but quite pricy).

The menu concept was a bit confusing with different ingredients and experiences but waiters were very helpful. We took the shortest option (which was more than enough) coupled with drinks. The portions were exceptionally well prepared and imaginative, but what really set this apart from many other great restaurants was the matching of food with the drinks. Many of the combinations were out of this world really! The service was helpful and friendly throughout the dinner and they explained each food and drink separately (there was however some differences with the waiters some being quite brief and not really giving the full briefing). The only miss with regards to the food was our final dessert where the cooked fruit was not steamed long enough. We mentioned this and the waiter was very apologetic & understanding and offered to replace the dishes, but as we were already a bit too full we asked them to take the dish out of the bill, which they did. The portions are quite large, so we felt even a bit too well fed after the dinner. The atmosphere is modern, but friendly.

Next time I'll try the ground floor bistro, which seemed to share the kitchen with the fine dining floor. Maybe I get to enjoy more of their great wines with some good food, but for somewhat cheaper price.
