Description: In September 2014 Restaurant Maharadscha has completed 30 years. We want to say a large thank you to all our guests for their faith in us. Restaurant Maharadscha is twice in Berlin. If you want to experience authentic Indian food you are here at the right address. We serve chicken, lamb, duck, fish and other seafood dishes but we do have a variety for our vegetarian and vegan guests as well. Here you can forget your prejudices against Indian food since you decide whether you want your dish mild, good-seasoned, spicy or very spicy. One of the owners is always at your side to make your visit memorable. Even though we have a large number of dishes, every meal is been prepared freshly after your order is placed. Both restaurants are located very central. You can get to Maharadscha in Schoneberg easily in 5-10 minutes from the underground station Wittenbergplatz (Kudamm with KaDeWe). Maharadscha 2 is only 3 stations away from Alexanderplatz (central sightseeing place with TV tower). So tourists can easily travel to both restaurants. Please notice: We don't accept credit cards. Only German EC card or cash.

“Authentic Gourmet Style Indian Cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

This is a pretty good North Indian Restaurant in West Berlin. The food is fresh and the owner is very friendly. She makes an effort to go around and socialize with the customers, which is much appreciated.

My favorite appetizer is the samosa. It is absolutely delicious. For dinner, the tandoori chicken is great. The daal has an interestingly unique smoky flavor to it. A must try is the garlic naan. They actually use fresh garlic and you can really taste it.

The only conn is the portion sizes. They are extremely small. For example, the samosa appetizer has 1 samosa…that’s it! The same goes for the rest of the food. Therefore you have to order tons and tons of food in order to make a real meal and that really adds up. It is much more expensive than other Indian restaurants.

Value: Is the high cost of this Indian gourmet restaurant justifiable? Maybe once in a while. And of course if you are traveling, this is the time to indulge!

My partner and I were looking for a relaxing, nothing too fancy restaurant in the area. We had tried many restaurants locally and wanted to try a few different ones. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was very nice, the ginger bear was delicious and the owner an Indian lady was delightful. She regularly would regularly come over and often told us a few funny stories which we thoroughly enjoyed. Felt like we were having dinner with a lovely friend. I often find that the less impressive looking restaurants can often be better than fancy ones. If you are looking for a nice meal with great service for a good price in this area I would definitely try Maharadscha. We will definitely be back.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

Went here because of reviews. Not great! The owner was very friendly, the restaurant is dated and the food just average not a lot of flavour. The previous comments saying "best Indian in Berlin" glad we didn't go to the others!! The price was high for what we had too, not worth the money.

“Best Indian restaurant in Berlin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

I recently visited Berlin again for a weekend with my partner and we always look forward to visiting Maharadscha in the cool Schoneberg area of Berlin. We hadn't been there for 6 months but the Indian lady who owns the restaurant remembered us from other visits and was very friendly and attentive. The food was as previously extremely good and excellent value for money. We look forward to our next visit.

“Excellent Curry!”

Great food, great value, great owner. The owner was extremely friendly and more than happy to create any dish you wanted. The only Indian restaurant I will ever visit in Berlin.
